Chapter Seven
Luna’s Pov
My eyes opened slowly, and to my shock, I was in a strange room; simple, yet beautiful. The things around were arranged neatly; the wall was painted pink, and there were many papers stacked on the study desk. The floor I saw from a distance was really nice and pretty, but how did I get here? The last thing I remembered was that Valerie and Damien threw me down easily into the raging water fall during a rainy day. They had found a way to inject me with something that weakened every fiber of me.
“Son and daughter of a bitch!” I said sharply under my breath.
That was the only way they were able to get to me.
But right now, where could I be? Did the people who own it here save me perhaps? As I sat up, and looked around again, I saw a framed photo of myself standing before a college.
“What the hell?”
I never took those photos, and so far, I haven’t seen a place like this in our city. Was this their way of idolizing me or what? Besides, how did they make it? No, I couldn’t just sit right here with so many questions in my head. Also, I needed to get back to Zane, Ryder, and Caleb. They must have been looking around for me, and also were worried.
As I got to my feet, the door opened, and a woman who looked like she was in her mid-fifties, dropped the glass cup she was holding, and it shattered on the floor.
“Are you okay?” I asked her, but she had a shocked look.
“Keira!” She screamed and ran towards me, then gave me a tight hug.
I became irritated and pushed her away.
“Why would you just throw yourself at me? I appreciate the fact that you must have saved me, but it still doesn’t give you the right to hug me.” I said to her harshly, and then a man rushed in quickly and as his eyes fell on the woman, he bent to help her up.
“Keira, are you okay? Why did you push your mother to the floor?” He questioned me softly, looking into my eyes with concern.
Why were they calling me Keira, and acting with so much disrespect?
“I will not tolerate any more acts of disrespect. Address me as your Luna.” I said to them, and they exchanged confused glances.
But I didn’t care about that.
“Now, tell me how you came to save me?”
“Uhm… Keira, we actually found you all wounded on a deserted road. We have searched so far, and the police and other people who had received your missing flyer have also helped. You’ve been bedridden for about a week now; more like you were in a coma. And… and…”
“And what?” I demanded, unable to stand how slow he was, giving me the information I asked for.
“It’s surprising to see that you just woke up, and you’re walking and talking like nothing really happened.”
Although I felt a little weak, it was still something that I could handle.
“Why didn't you tell Alpha Zane that you had already found me? And you kept me here for a week? Or did Valerie and Damien put you up to this!” I voiced out in anger.
“Uhm… K…Keira, we don't know what you're talking about, but you need to calm down, okay? Have a seat first and…”
“I said stop calling me Keira! I am Luna Blackwood, the Luna of the Blackwood Pack!” I yelled at them and dashed out of the room.
I hurried down the stairs without even studying my surroundings and just before I got to the exit door, it opened and an average-tight lady with neck-length ginger hair and bangs, walked in with flowers in her hands.
Her eyes widened in shock and the bouquet of flowers dropped from her hands as she stared at me.
“Keira… you're…”
I rolled my eyes and ran out of the building and the chilly breeze brushed past me, brightening up my mood.
I chuckled as I stared at the starry sky while walking fast, and also looked around as I saw children having fun with their families.
The lights all around were really nice and made me feel so excited to get home so soon.
I had wandered far enough before I realized something. Been walking as long as I could remember, and yet, hadn't seen anywhere which was familiar.
“Hello. I'm Luna Blackwood. Where is this place?” I asked a boy who was busy playing with a kite.
“Hi, Luna. I'm Chris, and we are currently on Thomas Street, New York City.” The boy answered me intelligently.
“Okay, we're still in New York City.” I said under my breath in relief, then noticed he was eating a pinkish foam and that got me baffled.
“Why are you eating that? Are you into bubble soaps?”
But he chuckled. “This is cotton candy. You're acting so weird.” He said, then left.
I shook my head and continued walking until I got to the roadside and my heart skipped a beat as I saw metal with wheels and in different sizes, racing really fast.
The sound of their horns made me feel a little dizzy, and I turned around and ran off, as fast as I could, until I got to the woods, breathing heavily.
One thing I didn't understand was that everything looked and felt so different. What the heck happened in one week?
“Keira! Keira! You shouldn't be here by this time. Let's leave the woods instantly.” I heard a familiar voice.
And then, when I turned in the direction of the voice, I discovered it was the ginger-haired girl.
“What do you mean by its not safe?”
“Sometimes, wolves do come here. We need to go.”
Then I scoffed.
“Look, I don't know what's going on with New York City, but wolves aren't a problem, you know that. I might have been in a coma, but I'm fine, and they can't sense any weakness in me.”
“What the hell are you saying, Keira! Let's leave right now.”
Just then, we heard the howl of a wolf. It was nearby; it sounded really nearby, although I couldn't feel it.
“Keira… it's… it's behind you.” The lady muttered in fear.
I turned around and saw the wolf; it's shiny blue eyes and the fangs were really sharp, but I scoffed and chuckled.
“I'm sure you don't want to dare fight with me.” I snickered, and tried to bring out my claws, but nothing was happening.
What exactly was wrong with me?
Before I could look back at the wolf, it leaped towards me, ready for a strike.
