Chapter 4: The confrontation.

Tina's heart skipped a beat as Dr. Martin's eyes narrowed, his gaze piercing through her disguise. She struggled to maintain her composure, remembering Detective James' words: "Stay calm, we've got this." But it was getting harder by the minute.

Dr. Martin smiled, oblivious to the trap. "So, Sophie, how are you feeling today?"

Tina forced a smile. "I'm doing fine, thank you."

Dr. Martin's eyes narrowed. "I've been reviewing your profile. Your husband is a member of the presidential cabinet " which is quite impressive, but I know that comes with a lot of challenges,

Tina's grip on her purse tightened. Her mind raced with implications doubting herself immediately, if she would be able to go on with face-to-face confrontation, Just as Dr martins would continue probing a familiar face walked into the office all smiley and chummy to Dr martins Yes, with a destructive response "

Tina was surprised and confused at the same time, because that was her sister Purple, due to the face makeup no one was able to recognize her,

Dr. Martin excused himself to attend to the newcomer, leaving Tina stunned and confused. What was Purple doing here? Was she involved with Dr. Martin somehow?

Tina's thoughts swirled as she tried to process the unexpected turn of events. She knew she had to keep her cool and maintain her disguise, but it was getting harder by the minute.

As Dr. Martin returned to the session, Tina forced herself to focus. "Sorry about the interruption, Sophie," he said with a smile. "Where were we?"

Tina took a deep breath, trying to sound calm. "We were discussing my husband's career," she replied, her eyes locked onto Dr. Martin's.

But her mind was elsewhere, wondering what Purple's presence meant. Was she in danger? Or was this a coincidence?

The session continued, with Tina walking on an eggshell

between her disguise and her growing unease. But one thing was certain - she would uncover the truth, no matter what it took. She took a deep breath, trying so hard to focus on her sessions.

Tina's eyes darted toward Purple, who was now standing by the window, her back to the office, Dr. Martin seemed oblivious to the tension.

"Sophie, let's explore your feelings about your husband's career," Dr. Martin said, his voice calm.

Tina nodded, trying to focus. "It's... complicated."

Dr. Martin leaned forward. "Complicated?"

Tina hesitated, aware of Purple's presence. "The pressure, the scrutiny... it's overwhelming and she didn't want Purple to recognize her voice.

Dr. Martin's eyes sparkled with interest. "I see. And how do you cope with this stress?"

Tina's gaze drifted to Purple, who was now watching her with an intense expression.

Suddenly, Purple's eyes flickered to Dr. Martin, and Tina saw a flash of recognition. Giving him a sign to hurry up.

Purple knew Dr. Martin.

The realization sent a chill down Tina's spine.

Babe " Dr. Martin said, "I  will be right there.

Purple smiled, her voice dripping with sweetness. “All right, love, purple responded.

Tina's mind reeled with surprise at what just happened

What was going on?

Was Purple working with Dr. Martin?  My wife" Dr martins said abruptly, Tina's heart sank," Wife " she said out loud couldn't help but unknowingly raise her voice,

purple never told anyone in the house she was married, but she reminded herself this could have happened while she was in prison.

The session continued, with Tina struggling to maintain her disguise and composure.

But she knew she had to escape, to confront Purple and uncover the truth, to know of all people why Dr. Martin chose her sister.

As the session concluded, Dr. Martin stood up. "Sophie, our time is up for today."

Tina nodded, relief washing over her.

But as she turned to leave, Purple blocked her path.

"Sorry," Purple said, her voice low, " but Tina couldn't respond rather she waved silently without uttering a word

Tina's heart sank.

Weeks passed, and Tina continued her charade.  Tina wants to  Find out the truth behind Purple's marriage with Dr Martin.

As Tina decided to confront  Purple, she invited her for Dinner in a restaurant.

Tina's eyes were screaming for truth and questions; she was calm and nervous at the same time, wanting to know what had transpired between her sister and Dr Martin.

Purple's eyes locked onto Tina, a mixed feeling  gripping her because She was behind Tina going to jail, fear and defiance filled her,  but as soon as they made their order  before Tina could say anything she decided to say something because she was feeling sorry for what she did

"Tina, I have something to confess," Purple said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tina's heart sank.

"What is it, Purple?"

Purple took a deep breath.

"I'm the one who sold you out to Dr. Martin " and removed all the evidence that he was at your house 20 years ago, the day Alex died

Tina's eyes widened.

"You're the informant?"

Purple nodded.

"Why?" Tina demanded.

Purple's gaze dropped.

"I was jealous of your marriage to Alex and of  the life you both built."

Tina's mind reeled.

Purple's actions made sense now.

The manipulation.

The lies.

The sessions with Dr. Martin.

"Purple, how could you?" Tina asked, her voice shaking.

Purple's eyes filled with tears.

"I didn't mean to hurt you, Tina. I just wanted what you had."

Dr. Martin's  call came in, and Purple excused herself to answer it

Tina couldn't hold back the hot tears dripping from her chin; she just couldn't believe what she had just heard, her sister! , sobbing.

Tina's World Shattered

Tina's tears flowed uncontrollably as Purple stepped away to answer Dr. Martin's call. The restaurant's diners faded into the background, leaving only Tina in anguish.

How could Purple betray her so deeply?

Their childhood memories flashed through Tina's mind – laughter, secrets shared, and promises of eternal sisterly love.

Now, those memories were tainted.

Purple returned, her eyes filled with a mix of guilt and defiance.

"Tina, I—"

"Don't," Tina interrupted, her voice firm but shaking. "You've said enough."

Purple's lips trembled.

"I was consumed by jealousy," Purple continued as if compelled to justify her actions. "Dr. Martin promised me a better life, and I believed him."

Tina's eyes blazed.

"A better life? At the cost of my freedom? My happiness?" my marriage,? My husband? Tina shouted "

Purple's gaze dropped.

"I didn't think it would go that far."

Tina's laughter was laced with anger and bitterness.

"You didn't think? You never thought about me, your sister."

The table went silent for some seconds.

Tina's thoughts swirled.

How could Purple sell her out?

What else had Dr. Martin had you do? Tina asked In a husky tone

"Purple," Tina said, her voice firm. "I want answers."

Purple nodded, tears streaming down her face.

"Everything," Tina demanded. "Dr. Martin, the evidence, Alex's death—"

Purple's eyes widened.

"Tina, I swear, I didn't know he was going to kill Alex at first

Tina's grip on her napkin tightened.

"Tell me."

Purple took a deep breath.

Dr. Martin approached me after you came to the house to complain about Alex's behavior, and we became friends so we started hanging out together, from there we both fell in love she said gazing down, and he proposed to me secretly telling her to hold on from telling the family that it should come as a surprise.

She stopped for a moment to grasp for air, then she continued, he told me he would help you with your marital issues and also promised to help me overcome my jealousy and get what I deserved."

Tina's mind reeled.

The web of deceit.

"Purple, you're trapped," Tina said, her voice softening. "Dr. Martin's using you."

Purple's gaze locked onto Tina's.

"I know," Purple whispered. "But I don't know how to come out from this, " Purple said

Tina's heart ached.

Her sister is lost.

The waiter arrived with their order, oblivious to the emotional storm.

Tina pushed her plate away.

"I need the whole details," Tina said. "All of it."

Purple nodded. and continued

We started working together after Alex's death," and got married in Vegas, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tina listened intently.

"What did he promise you?" Tina asked.

Purple's gaze dropped.

"A life like yours. Marriage, wealth, happiness."

Tina's eyes narrowed.

"At what cost?"

Purple hesitated.

"I didn't know at first. But soon, I realized Dr. Martin was using me to manipulate you and have you locked up in jail

"What did you do?"

Tina’s voice cracked.

"I removed evidence, lied to the police, and made it seem like there was no way out from your problems t

Tina's mind reeled.

The depth of Purple's betrayal.

"Why did you stay with Dr. Martin?" Tina asked.

Purple's eyes filled with tears.

"I was trapped. He had some  evidence against me while covering for him when police called him for questioning the night Tina was arrested, and I feared going to jail."

Tina's heart ached.

Her sister is trapped in a web of deceit.

"What about Alex's death?" Tina demanded.

Purple's face paled.

"I don't know what happened. Dr. Martin never told me."

Tina's eyes locked onto Purple's.

"Swear to me you're telling the truth."

Purple's hands trembled.

"I swear, Tina. I'm sorry."

Tina studied Purple's face.

Sorrow. Remorse. Fear.

Tina made a decision.

"Purple, we'll get through this together."

Purple's eyes widened.

"Really?"

Tina nodded.

"We'll expose Dr. Martin and clear my name."

Purple's tears flowed anew.

"Thank you, Tina."

As they hugged, Tina knew it was time to arrest Dr Martin before he could escape again.

The following morning, Tina went for her sessions and decided to reveal herself to Dr martins

"Dr. Martin," Tina said, her voice firm. "I have something to tell you l she hesitated ....

Dr. Martin's smile stopped for a bit in anticipation,

"My name is not Sophie I'm Alex's wife Tina. You killed my husband, your son, Lexie, and my mother-in-law; she didn't see a sign of surprise when she called Alex his son. That means he already knew

Dr. Martin's face turned pale.

Detective James burst into the office, with hands ready to cuff Dr Martin.

"Dr. Martin, you're under arrest for the murders of Alex, Lexie, and  Alex's mom

As Dr. Martin was led away, Tina felt a sense of closure and a bit of relief; she murmured on her lips, saying Alex, this is for us.

Detective James discovered more victims tied to Dr. Martin, including his wife Karen.

Tina found Sarah, Alex's daughter, at the orphanage whose address she found in the diary and shared the truth with her.

Together, they held a proper burial for Alex, Lexie, and her mom-in-law

Tina decided to start all over again, leaving the past behind.
