Chapter 8

In the bedroom, two maids are busily cleaning diligently, Huldah is standing in front of the door and giving out instructions as if her life depended on it.

"Hey, put that there! Remove that! Take that out of the room. You must make sure there isn't a hair of hers in the room."

Oswald entered the house and walked towards the hall. He saw his mother at first sight, she was helping the maids bring out the wardrobe he made for Elsie after their wedding. He rushed towards her and pulled the wardrobe down. His mother stared at him with anger and surprise but that didn't concern him rather he asked,

"What do you think you are doing here mom?"

"I'm cleaning the stain you brought in the house. I don't want to smell anything familiar with her. Tess wouldn't be staying in this room but yours but I still don't want her to see anything that would burden her. That girl, make sure she gets nothing from this family, that gold digger." Huldah responded with a disgusting expression on her face.

With a clenched fist beside him, and a screwed face, Oswald responded to Huldah in an anger lazed voice,

"Well, I guess you would be surprised but she took not a penny from me."

Huldah shook her head unbelievingly, since Tess heard the voice of Oswald, she came out of the room to meet him. But upon arriving at the banisters, she heard him speak to his in a cold voice. As if, defending Elsie from his mother, he continued and fetched divorce papers folded from his pockets. And presented them to his mother with an angry look saying to her,

"You can look through yourself."

When he took a step away, Tess rushed back into the room with the thoughts,

"Is he angry because they are divorced? Why should he be? Aren't I the one that he loves? I should do something, something doesn't feel right."

Oswald went upstairs into his room and saw Tess seated on the bed in thoughts. He didn't think of anything and walked towards her and greeted,

"How are you doing this morning?"

Tess looks aside and murmurs that she is doing fine. He is about to pass by but she stops him by holding his hand. Tess looks him directly in his eyes and asked him,

"Oswald, Is it possible that I asked to move into your home and this was a little too soon for you? I see that your face doesn't seem happy. I could have left! But Huldah insisted that I must move in today, and I ...... you know Huldah she likes me a lot."

Oswald shakes his head and looks away and then replied to her,

"There's no such thing, you are thinking too much. I'm just a little tired from work, really, don't take it personally, okay, and by the way, I already booked our engagement ring a month ago."

"Really? Did you do that?" Tess asked in surprise.

Oswald takes her other hand and makes her look him in his eyes and said to her,

"Yes. What is important now is for you to get well. Help your body heal. Then we can prepare well for our engagement ceremony."

Instead of going to the bathroom, he turned and left the room instead. Tess looked at his disappearing back and gulped down the saliva in her throat. She shook her head and said to herself,

"No, I don't believe you, even if there's a feeling, I will need to get rid of it. One way or the other."

She picked up her phone from and dialled a number, the person picked up and called to her,

"Miss Tess, why did you reach out to me?" A female voice came over the phone.

Tess shook her head and said in response,

"I just want to make sure one thing, it was Elsie who texted me three years ago, you understand, or I'll cut off your financial resources abroad with your daughter."

Without waiting for a reply from the other side, she sneered and threw the phone back on the bed.

——

In the office of Oswald, he is seated on his office chair and his secretary Rod is making a report to him. After he is done and about to leave, Oswald asked him,

"Is the ring ready? Has it been delivered from the designer?"

"It would be delivered in a week, the designer is famous and so, he has a lot of work on him. Even though we've paid a huge amount of money, we would have to wait."

Oswald nodded his head and went back to what he was reading through. Rod looked at his serious expression and thought,

‘I remember that when he was wedding Elsie, he never asked me to do anything for her. Not to think of ordering an expensive ring from a famous designer just to propose.'

As he was existing the room, he saw a desert plate on the table by the wall and he also remembered,

Elsie walked inside the office with a shining smile on her face and a desert basket in her hands. Oswald saw her a suddenly, a frown appeared on his face. he stood up and asked,

"What do you think you are doing here?"

"I came to deliver some deserts to you. I was thinking that you might be hungry after long hours of work." Elsie answered still smiling.

"And who asked you to be concerned about that? Get out of here, you are interrupting my work." Oswald interrogated in a furious tone.

The smile on her face was replaced with disappointment and she turned to leave sadly but he wasn't done. He also shouted behind her,

"You are not welcome here. Do not come here again to play this stunt."

‘Tess is a lucky girl.' Rod thought as the scene ended in his head.

Oswald was busily typing on his laptop when he heard his phone ringing. He didn't pick on the first ring when he saw the caller. But it rung again and again, when he couldn't handle it any longer he picked up and he said in an angry voice,

"What is it Ford? Do you have nothing to do this afternoon?"

"Just read the recent news you, coconut head."

He hanged up and Oswald looked at the phone blankly. He swiped to the web browser and searched the recent news to see it boldly written,

"Shock! CEO's Wife Divorced Him to Be With The Hot Super Idol!"
