Chapter 03
“Honey, Mom still needs to deal with some papers from your discharge. I'll be right back, okay? Be nice!” - Stella said to Liam, who nodded and started eating his breakfast.
When she passed Nathan, she pulled him out of the room.
“Just stay with him. I'm going to sign some papers. He's a good boy!”
After Stella had left, Nathan re-entered the room, pulled up a chair and sat down opposite Liam's bed. This was the first time he had looked seriously at his son.
“Why are you looking at me? It's not like you really miss me!” - Liam, sensing that someone was staring at him, raised his face and frowned.
“Liam Collins, I'm your dad, Nathan Collins.” - Nathan spoke again.
“My mother is enough for me!” - Liam just ignored him and continued eating his food.
Nathan never imagined that his son would be full of hostility towards him...
After finishing dealing with all the discharge procedures, Stella returned, and when she opened the door, she saw that father and son were sitting together.
“Mom, you're finally back!”
When Liam saw Stella, the expression on his face changed from a serious one to a smile.
Stella entered the room and didn't care about Nathan, who was sitting next to her. She just went over to Liam and held him. Then she helped him change his clothes to leave.
“Mom, can I really leave the hospital?” - Liam was very excited, his eyes shining at the thought that finally, after four months, he could go home.
“Yes, the doctor says you can leave the hospital. So let's get changed and go!” - Stella used her hand to stroke his head.
“It's so good to finally get out of here!” - Liam clapped his hands and his dimple appeared because of his laughter.
Nathan, who hadn't moved since, looked at the two, mother and son, who were actively minding their own business, looking like he was an invisible man.
On the way home, Liam lay on Stella's lap and during the drive they talked about the world outside. Nathan could see, through the mirror on the front seat, the scene where Liam's small head rested on Stella's shoulder. He seemed very concentrated listening to her story.
Stella's appearance was completely kind and beautiful, but Nathan believed she was only beautiful on the surface. In fact, her mind was very deep, full of cunning and evil. If not, how could she marry him?
When they arrived home, Anna was sitting at the front door waiting for her great-grandson.
“Liam, Grandma's here!”
When Liam saw Anna, he immediately ran to meet her, and they talked for a long time.
“Liam, I specially asked for a room just for you.” - Anna said to her great-grandson, who frowned when he heard this.
“But Grandma, I've always slept with Mom!” - Liam replied, since before his father returned, he always spent the nights with his mother.
Anna just smiled and stroked her great-grandson's head, and Nathan, upon hearing this, spoke up:
“Grandma, I can go to the guest room...”
Before Nathan could finish his sentence, his grandmother interrupted him:
“Don't make excuses, Nathan.” - She stared at him coldly. “You know your place in this house, so don't give me a hard time!”
Nathan just nodded silently. He might be a grown man, but his grandmother was in charge of everything, and no one dared go against her.
“Liam, darling, your father's come home, and you've grown up too. So it's good that you have your own room!” - Anna said, convincing Liam of the idea of having his own room. “Marie, can you take him to meet you? And see if he needs anything?” - Anna said to the nanny, who nodded. “And you two, sit down. Let's talk!”
When Anna said this, all the employees left the room, including Liam with the nanny, leaving only Stella, Nathan and their parents in the room.
“Liam can't wait for you to like each other. So you two need to get pregnant as soon as possible and save my first-born great-grandson!” - Anna was firm in her words, and everyone bowed their heads.
Stella knew that this was the only way to save Liam. And in this life, he was the only thing that gave her a reason to live, and no matter what, she would do anything to be by his side.
“Nathan, did you hear what your grandmother said?” - Filipo asked his son, seeing that he had no reaction.
“How can you ask me that? Even though you know there's no feeling between me and her?” - Nathan threw himself on the sofa and took a deep breath.
Stella knew what he meant. Liam was not a planned child, not even the second son. It just meant that the bond between them would grow even stronger.
“Nathan, both Liam and your second son are heirs to the Collins family!” - Anna was harsh in her reply.
Nathan just sighed deeply, threw his arms up, and then got up and went to his room. It was no use, no one would understand him.
“Nathan! Nathan!” - Filipo was extremely angry, but no matter how loudly he called him, Nathan didn't come back.
“Ella, don't worry. No matter what happens, I'll make sure he and you conceive the second child, and Liam will be fine.” - Anna comforted Stella, who just smiled.
Was Nathan's hatred and rejection in this way Stella's fault? But what could she do? For Liam, she was ready to do anything.
Stella opened the bedroom door and when she entered, Nathan was standing by the window, on the phone with someone, and his voice was completely gentle and soft.
It didn't take much thought: who would be on the phone to him if it wasn't his beloved and precious Olivia Carson?
Stella just walked straight past him, took off her coat and went into the bathroom. She needed a very hot bath to replenish her energy and then she would go to Liam's room to check on him.
She filled the bath with water, took off her clothes and went in. She had a lot on her mind, but at the moment she wanted to forget about it for a while.
She closed her eyes, leaned over the edge of the bath and felt the warmth of the water envelop her body. Now her whole body finally relaxed a little.
Suddenly, she heard the bathroom door being opened by someone. She was surprised and immediately opened her eyes. Her first response was to grab the towel she had put to one side and cover her entire body.
