Chapter 04

“Showering so early?” Nathan laughed. “Stella Lewis, you're in such a hurry, aren't you?”

Stella was already irritated by his sudden intrusion, so she closed her face and pointed at the door.

“Get out of here!”

“Get dressed and get out, let's talk!”  Nathan said and then left the bathroom.

Seeing this, Stella realized that she was so furious that her heart was beating fast. She took a deep breath, dried her body, put on her clothes and left.

Nathan was sitting on his bed, head down, watching some videos on his social network, when he saw Stella come out of the bathroom.

“I don't want to have another child with you.”

“Nathan, that's...” Stella tried to speak, but Nathan cut her off again.

“I haven't finished talking.”  He stared at her emotionlessly. “I know this is the only way to save Liam, so I have no choice, but I'm not going to touch you.”

Stella raised her head, staring at him, not understanding what he meant. In truth, she and Nathan, although married, were complete strangers to each other. She knew Nathan hated the idea; he wanted to keep himself pure for his most beloved wife, but she really wanted to know: what kind of method would he use to solve this problem?

“We can try in vitro fertilization!” Nathan said, handing her the phone.

“The success of IVF is low, and Liam doesn't have that kind of time, Nathan!” Stella stared at him. She wasn't against IVF, but she knew it could take time, and her son didn't have that long. At most, he would have another year to live.

“Stella, do you really want me to touch you? In these four years, don't tell me you haven't had a man by your side?”  Nathan laughed, realizing Stella's true intention.

Stella's face paled a little. She knew Nathan was taking the opportunity to humiliate her.

“Although the success rate is low, it doesn't mean there's no chance of it working!”

“But Liam won't be able to wait that long.” Stella bit her lips. “We can try it once, but if it doesn't work, then...”

“If it doesn't work, can I just use the safest method, which is sleeping with you to get you pregnant?” Nathan laughed coldly and got out of bed, walking towards her. “Stella, I want you to agree to my only term.”

“What term?” At his sudden approach, Stella felt atypical. She took a few steps back, putting some distance between herself and him.

“After Liam recovers, I want to divorce you.” Nathan spoke his real intention. He wouldn't be the one to lose out in this relationship.

“Fine!”  Without any protest and thinking of Liam's well-being, Stella agreed without a second thought.

Her quick response without any reluctance startled Nathan for a moment. He felt that he didn't really understand the woman in front of him. After all, hadn't she married him for all the wealth of the Collins family? How could she easily agree to his term?

“After the divorce, you will no longer be Mrs. Collins.” Nathan felt it necessary to remind her of everything that was at stake. “Everything you have now will be gone.”

“I know.” From the beginning, all this was not what she wanted, not what she loved.

“Okay, Stella, remember what you said today.” Nathan narrowed his eyes. “Tomorrow we're going for a check-up, so get ready.”

Stella nodded, turned her body to walk out the door and headed towards Liam's room. She just wanted to get away from Nathan and also knew that if the Collins family found out about the fertilization, they certainly wouldn't accept it!
