Chapter 6 Alexander's Daughter
Sienna didn't even glance at Alexander. A man who'd hit a child wasn't worth her time, so she left to arrange a check-up for Aria.
She hadn't gone far when a small figure bumped into her. Sienna crouched down, staring in shock at the little girl in a hospital gown on the ground.
"Hey there, are you okay, sweetie?"
The little girl stared at Sienna with wide eyes; her round, sparkling eyes were incredibly beautiful. Even after being knocked down, she didn't cry and reached out to touch Sienna's face.
"Did it hurt anywhere when you fell? Please tell me, okay?"
The little girl shook her head but didn't speak. Instead, she smiled at Sienna, and Sienna felt a pang in her heart.
This little girl seemed so mature. If her own little angel were still alive, would she be like this too?
As Sienna was lost in thought, a nurse hurried over.
"Olivia, Olivia, how'd you get here by yourself?"
The nurse quickly picked Olivia up.
"I'm so sorry. Olivia has autism and doesn't speak. I hope she didn't cause you any trouble."
Sienna shook her head, feeling a pang of sympathy for the beautiful little girl who had autism and couldn't speak.
"She's very well-behaved. But she's so young and has autism. I noticed her lips are a bit blue. Does she have a heart condition too?"
The nurse, Gemma, nodded. "Yeah, poor thing. She was born with a heart condition and has no mother. She's scheduled for major surgery soon, but we don't know if it'll help."
Gemma had been Olivia's nanny since she was little and had stayed with her in the hospital for a long time. Hardly anyone ever visited Olivia, and Gemma felt particularly protective of her.
"Well, it just so happens that I'm a doctor in this field. I'll take a look at Olivia's medical records when I have time."
Gemma's eyes lit up, and she quickly showed Sienna the name on Olivia's wristband.
"Doctor, please, this is Olivia's name and patient number. I can tell you're a very skilled doctor. You must be able to help her!"
Sienna nodded and looked at the name: Olivia Knight?
She was surprised to see the last name Knight. She looked at Olivia again, feeling like she had seen her before but couldn't place where.
"I'll keep an eye on it. Olivia, I'll come see you when I'm done, okay?"
Olivia nodded and smiled at Sienna, a smile that tugged at Sienna's heartstrings.
After examining Aria, Sienna decided she needed to be admitted immediately. Her heart condition was serious and required urgent surgery.
Alexander didn't believe Sienna's diagnosis and consulted several international experts. They all confirmed Sienna's findings and were surprised to see her name.
"Alexander, how did you get Sienna? Do you know how hard it is to get her? A billionaire offered five hundred million dollars, and she refused. How did you manage it?"
Alexander was taken aback. He hadn't realized how skilled Sienna was. It seemed he didn't know her at all.
Alexander's knowledge of Sienna was mostly from their two years of marriage. She had been obedient, never losing her temper in front of him, and never questioning his actions outside. Except for the night before she left for abroad, Sienna had never done anything he disliked. She had always been a dutiful wife.
But why had she changed so suddenly?
"Is she really that good?"
"Absolutely! If you know her, you gotta introduce me. I've got a project with Nova Research Institute, but they turned me down. Alexander, you gotta put in a good word for me, okay?"
Annoyed by his friend's nagging, Alexander hung up the phone. After Aria's check-up, Sienna went to the nurse's station to ask about Olivia. Unexpectedly, the staff there all knew Olivia.
"Are you asking about Mr. Knight's daughter? She is such a sweet girl. We all know her. She stays in the VIP room down the hall."
Alexander's daughter?
Sienna was stunned but quickly composed herself. She had her own children now, so why couldn't he have a daughter?
With that thought, Sienna carefully reviewed Olivia's medical records. The condition was complex and required immediate surgery, but no one in the country could perform it.
Sienna closed the file and looked at the head nurse.
"I'd like to meet Olivia's attending physician. Is that possible?"
The head nurse looked at Sienna with excitement. "Dr. Blake, I heard you're an expert in this field. Can you save Olivia?"
Sienna smiled but didn't make any promises. "If the family agrees, I'll do my best."
"That's wonderful, Dr. Blake! You have no idea how good Olivia is. She's been in the hospital for two or three years, always well-behaved and never causing trouble. Such a good child, how could she have such a condition?"
The head nurse, being a mother herself, felt particularly sympathetic toward Olivia.
"It's likely congenital underdevelopment. Without proper care after birth, her condition worsened. I'll discuss it with her attending physician. If possible, I hope to help Olivia get better."
Sienna went to the doctor's office, where Olivia's attending physician was a middle-aged man she recognized from before.
"Mrs. Knight, is that you?"
Sienna shook her head with a smile. "Dr. Green, Alexander and I are divorced. I'm not Mrs. Knight anymore."
Mason Green nodded, looking a bit awkward.
"I didn't expect you to be the expert from abroad. We didn't dare operate on Olivia and have been maintaining her condition while searching for a suitable doctor."
"The surgery is complex. I'll need an assistant, and the success rate is only twenty percent. You can discuss it with her family. If they agree, I'll perform the surgery."
Mason's eyes widened in surprise. He hadn't expected Sienna to be so calm after learning Olivia was Alexander's daughter.
"I'll contact Mr. Knight. Dr. Blake, are you sure you're okay with this?"
Mason couldn't help but ask. Sienna smiled.
"Dr. Green, I'm a doctor. I know what I need to do. This child and I are fated to meet. Helping her is a good deed. Of course, Mr. Knight has to agree to let me operate. But knowing his stubborn nature, that might be difficult."
Sienna put down the file and left. Mason stood there for a while before remembering to call Alexander.
After leaving the hospital, Sienna made a phone call.
"James, I need a place to stay near The Knight Manor, convenient for treating patients. Also, I need a nanny to take care of Henry and William. Please arrange it for me."
