Chapter 20 Asking Her for Help, What a Joke!

Hazel really didn't want to see these two women.

It wasn't anything specific; they looked down on her, and she couldn't stand them either.

A few days ago, after dinner, Gerald and Bryan's families had all returned to their places. Except for Luna showing up once, no one else had come back.

Their sudden visit today definitely wasn't for anything good.

"Hazel, you're here! Looks like we came at just the right time!" Edith was the first to speak, her face adorned with a warm smile, though it didn't reach her eyes.

Hazel handed the food to the maid, asking her to warm it up in the kitchen, then responded politely. "Aunt Edith, Aunt Luna."

Her tone was neutral, neither too cold nor too warm.

"Come, sit down, Hazel. Edith and I came to see you today because we need your help with something." They pulled Hazel to the couch, sitting on either side of her.

Their unusual behavior meant there was definitely some scheme afoot.

Considering how they had looked down on her before, they must be here to ask for something.

"Aunt Edith, Aunt Luna, you're not here to ask for the gifts you gave me back, are you?" Hazel feigned surprise, blinking her big eyes innocently.

At her words, Edith and Luna's faces turned ugly for a moment. "Hazel, what are you talking about? We wouldn't take back something we've already given you."

Luna said, "Exactly."

Edith and Luna felt like they were bleeding inside. Lawrence had been ruthlessly taking their things, and now he wanted to kick their cousins out of the Johnson Group.

If it weren't for this, they wouldn't have come to Hazel.

"As long as you're not here to take things back. So, Aunt Edith, Aunt Luna, what do you need? Though I doubt I can be of much help." Hazel said.

As long as they weren't here to take things back, Hazel was fine. She wasn't about to let go of anything that had already come into her possession.

Hazel spread her hands, looking indifferent.

Her attitude made Luna want to scream. "Hazel, I know you and Lawrence have a good relationship. Could you talk to him for us? Ask him to go easy on us since we're all family. Gerald even gave you the Emerald Peak farm. Considering we're relatives and have given you so many gifts, could you put in a good word for us?"

Edith even took off her gemstone bracelet and put it on Hazel's wrist.

Hazel frowned. She didn't know what was going on in the company, but if both Edith and Luna were here, it must be serious.

But it was laughable. Did they think she could use her charm to persuade Lawrence?

"Aunt Edith, Aunt Luna, I really can't make that decision." Hazel said.

Hazel's direct refusal made Edith's face stiffen.

Luna chimed in, "Hazel, how can you say you can't make the decision? You're Lawrence's wife. He'll definitely listen to you."

Hazel found it amusing. "Oh? I remember Aunt Luna saying I wasn't good enough for Lawrence. Now you're acknowledging I'm his wife?"

She hadn't even confronted Luna about the photo incident yet. Now that Luna had come to her, she couldn't resist a bit of mockery.

Luna's face stiffened, her expression awkward.

"If Aunt Edith and Aunt Luna wanted to ask Hazel for a favor, why not come directly to me?" Lawrence's voice came from the doorway, making Edith and Luna freeze.

Their faces showed a flash of discomfort. Hazel was also surprised to see Lawrence suddenly appear.

She quickly stood up and walked to his side. "Honey, what brings you back so soon?"

"I wrapped up my business early and came home, just in time to see Aunt Edith and Aunt Luna." Lawrence's eyes were mocking as he looked at the two women.

Elliot Johnson and his cousins had embezzled a lot of company funds, and their extravagant spending had created a huge deficit.

Lawrence had given them two choices, repaying the embezzled funds or facing legal action.

Though the money was eventually repaid, Elliot and his cousins were kicked out of the board.

And that was just the beginning. Gerald and Bryan had placed many of their own people in the company over the years. Lawrence's actions had threatened their interests.

So, Edith and Luna couldn't sit still.

"Lawrence, Elliot is your cousin. How could you just kick him out of the company?" Edith said.

"Yeah, he made a mistake, but he corrected it. We're all family. The company still needs support from the family." Luna said.

"If Jeremy finds out, he'll be heartbroken. Lawrence, you should let them come back." Edith said.

The two women took turns criticizing Lawrence.

Hazel had seen how shameless these people could be, but this was a Johnson Group matter, and she didn't want to interfere.

"Grandpa already knows about this." Lawrence's expression didn't change as he spoke. "Instead of wasting time here, you should think about how to explain this to Grandpa. Elliot and the others did more than just embezzle funds. Do you think Grandpa will let the Johnson Group be ruined by a few corrupt individuals?"

Lawrence's cold words echoed in their ears. Luna gritted her teeth and tugged on Edith's sleeve. "Edith, let's go."

Being lectured by someone younger, Edith's face was also unpleasant. As she passed Hazel, she gave her a cold look and yanked the gemstone bracelet off her wrist.

Hazel remained silent.

It was just ridiculous.

"Hazel, can you do me a favor?" Lawrence looked at Hazel and asked.

"What favor?" Hazel said.

"Can you get a document for me?" Lawrence said.

Hazel paused, then nodded and went upstairs to get the document for Lawrence.

"Are you going out again?" Hazel asked.

As soon as she asked, Hazel regretted it.

Lawrence's eyes held a hint of amusement. "Yes, I have to go out. Do you want to come with me if you're bored at home?"

Hazel's eyes widened. "Can I?"

She had never been involved in Lawrence's work, but she was too bored at home.

Lawrence nodded. "Go get ready. The car is waiting outside."

"Okay." Hazel excitedly agreed, went upstairs to change, and left with Lawrence, not even eating a bite.

A Maybach was parked outside the gate, with a different driver today.

It wasn't Stuart from the other day.

"Mr. Johnson, where are we going?" Hazel asked after getting in the car.

"You'll see." Lawrence didn't explain, maintaining an air of mystery.

Hazel opened her mouth, "Alright."

The car left the Serenity Heights neighborhood, heading in a different direction.

On the way, they passed a restaurant, and Lawrence had the driver stop to pick up something.
