Chains of faith

Chapter 4

Yna could feel her stomach ache as hunger gnawed at her like a relentless insatiable beast. Her mouth felt dry, and she could almost taste the emptiness, a bitter reminder that she had not taken any food since she was taken by the werewolves.

She suddenly heard the click on the door, watching it creak open. A female figure stepped inside, her presence commanding and fierce. Her name was Diana, the one who had always hoped that Marcus would chose her as his mate.

She had been asked by Marcus to get Yna some food so she doesn't die of hunger. She had confronted Marcus to find out why he had not yet declared Yna's punishment before the rest of the pack and had decided to keep her locked in his room.

It was bad enough to have a female human among them, but much worse was the thought of her warming Marcus' bed. She had noticed Marcus spending time in his room alone with this female human and she couldn't help but feel threatened by her. She had stood by Marcus through thick and thin and didn't want anyone coming to take her place as his mate.

At first, she wasn't bothered, knowing fully well how much Marcus hated the humans especially the females but there was something about Yna that seemed to raise her concern. She was beautiful, too beautiful to overlook the possibility of Marcus falling in love with her.

"You," Diana began, her voice a low dangerous growl as she approached Yna. "Don't get any funny feelings for Marcus and don't think you're special to him. He's an Alpha and can never be yours."

Yna looked up, fear and confusion in her eyes. Diana took a step closer, her gaze unyielding. "Don't delude yourself. He doesn't care about you. You're just a tool to him, a means to an end."

She crouched down, bringing her face level with Yna's. "I am his Luna, the one who had always stood by his side. I saved his life when he was betrayed by one of your kind, someone he thought he could trust. He learned his lesson and he won't make the same mistake twice.

"I want to go home. I want to get out of this place," Yna shivered as she realised the depth of the danger she was in.

"I don't know why he's still keeping you with him but let me warn you. He's mine and mine alone. Remember that," she said coldly, dropping the food pack she had brought on that floor as she left the room. "You're disposable. And if you cause any trouble, I'll make sure you regret it."

Yna was too hungry to pay attention to what she was saying. Immediately Diana left the room, pulled the food pack towards herself and dived in, not thinking of the possiblity of the food being poisoned.

Marcus' hand moved lower to circle Yna's rounded flesh, stroking her through the fabrics of her dress, but when he tore her dress in one swift powerful move, Yna knew it was now or never.

She could either succumb to her body’s desires, submit to his will, and let him draw his pleasure from her as well as bring her the sweetest pleasure she had ever known – until he had his fill and cast her aside like a worn shoe.

Her mind raced back to Diana's warning earlier but she had been too overwhelmed by Marcus that she could already see herself being taken over by him. She wanted him, more than anything she had ever wanted.

He kissed her and she couldn't resist. His hands were skillful in caressing her just right where she needed it. Indeed, she was going to get burnt up by this ruthless Alpha who had sworn to make her burn in pleasure.

His hand came up to cup her naked sensitive flesh. “We could have a happy ending Yna,” he whispered softly into her ears, stroking her almost fondly. “Just tell me what I want to know. Who are you working for? Why have you come to spy on me and my pack?"

Yna sighed. He would never believe she was innocent, that no one had sent her to spy on him and that she was only trying to save herself from being killed. “My village was attacked by werewolves. I...I..." She stammered.

Marcus scoffed, then ran a hand through his hair, the first visible sign of his irritation. “You would find I am not a very patient person. I have been patient enough with you.”

"I'm telling the truth," Yna managed to say finally.

"I knew you were a traitor otherwise why would a pack of werewolves chase after you? Your kinds are always like that. They appear so innocent on the outside but deep down, they're more ruthless than us werewolves."

For the first time, Yna could see right through him. There was something about this Alpha - something that suggested pain. Diana had mentioned it earlier and so did he just now. What could have happened between him and a female human and why does it feel like he hadn't let go of it yet.

"Who was she?" Yna finally found her courage. "Who was this female human that betrayed you?"

Marcus searched her eyes, surprised at her sudden show of courage. “It's none of your business," he sneered. "Tomorrow, I'll give the pack an opportunity to decide your fate. Since you've refused to tell me what your mission is, I'll allow the pack to do whatever it is they want with you."

He got up slowly to his feet and Yna found herself staring at him. His physique was undeniably irresistible. There was something about Alpha Marcus that seemed to pull her towards him. Looking into his eyes earlier, she saw a wounded soul who once trusted and was backstabbed.

Yna watched him leave, still wondering who it was that had betrayed Marcus and why he was still holding on to it. Before she knew it, she heard the door lock click as Marcus left the room.

"What have I gotten myself into?" She sighed, as she thought of what the werewolves might dec

ide to do to her the following day crossed her mind.
