Chapter 10 He Mistook Her for the Woman from Four Years Ago

Jonathan's presence, in a way, filled a part of the void in Kathie's heart.

She cleared her throat. "Come on out and have some pastries."

Eileen immediately followed her out. At the door, she turned back and waved sweetly, "Hey, come on! Mommy's pastries are the best."

When Jonathan came out, he saw the three little ones all vying to feed Kathie.

He could tell they were drooling over the food, but they still gave the first bite to their mom.

It was the first time he had seen such a heartwarming scene, and he couldn't help but smile.

To him, even though Kathie was fierce, she had raised her kids well—they were smart and adorable.

The sun set.

Night always came a bit earlier in the suburbs.

After dinner, Kathie bathed the three little ones, and after a busy while, she tucked them into bed one by one. Then she went to the kitchen to bring Jonathan his medicine.

With the experience from the past few times, Jonathan held his breath and gulped it down quickly to avoid the smell.

But this time, the medicine was so bitter he almost gagged.

He frowned. "What's going on? This medicine is different from the one during the day."

Kathie smirked. "This is to help you recover faster. I just added one more ingredient."

Jonathan stared at her. "What did you add?"

Kathie answered honestly, "An herb that's a bit more bitter."

Sure enough, she was messing with him.

"You're too much. You're still holding a grudge from this morning."

"So what? Do you dare to mess with me again?" she said casually.

Jonathan thought, 'I really shouldn't have offended her! Especially since she's a doctor—she could find all sorts of ways to get back at me.'

He was always the one taming others, but now the tables had turned, and he was completely at the mercy of Kathie.

"No, Dr. Cavendish, you have quite the methods," he replied.

Kathie took out a piece of candy as a reward. Jonathan's eyes lit up, and he quickly put it in his mouth. The sweet taste made him feel better again.

This woman was really something—first a slap, then a candy. She knew how to balance punishment and reward.

With the sweetness in his mouth, Jonathan managed to finish the rest of the medicine.

He had never suffered so much in his life, but here he had his fill.

Kathie teased, "Not bad, you're growing."

Jonathan gritted his teeth. She still dared to make fun of him. He wiped his mouth, "I haven't had a proper bath in days. I feel gross."

Since Kathie had rescued him, he couldn't get his wounds wet, so he could only be wiped down with warm water.

The nights in the suburbs were cool, but the days were quite hot. Hearing him say this, there was indeed a bit of a smell.

Kathie deliberately covered her nose and teased, "Yeah, you do smell a bit."

Jonathan's mouth twitched. "I'm an injured person who can't move. If I smell, isn't it your fault as my caretaker?"

Kathie pushed him to the bathroom. "You didn't mention it, so how would I know how you feel? If you want a bath, just tell me anytime."

Kathie took off his jacket, revealing his eight-pack abs. His body proportions were perfect, the best she had ever seen.

She swallowed, helping him take off his pants and carefully guiding him into the bathtub.

The perfect water temperature made Jonathan relax completely.

"You can't move around too much yet, and you can't soak for too long. Call me when you're done," Kathie said.

Jonathan nodded, and she left to prepare other things.

The exhaustion of the past few days disappeared in that moment. Although this place was small, the kids were noisy, and there was a fierce woman, Jonathan found it interesting.

He had initially thought of leaving once he felt better, but now he didn't seem to have that plan.

His legs had regained some feeling. He wanted to try lifting them. Feeling some response, he used his hands to support himself on the edge of the tub, trying to stand.

But no matter how hard he tried, his feet wouldn't hold, and he kept slipping back into the water, splashing everywhere.

Hearing the commotion, Kathie rushed to the door, worried. "Hey, what are you doing in there? Are you done yet?"

Jonathan gritted his teeth. "Almost!" He refused to believe he couldn't stand.

Sensing something was off, Kathie pushed the door open just in time to see him fall out of the tub.

Without thinking, as a doctor, her first instinct was to rush forward and catch him.

But her small frame couldn't support such a tall, muscular man. She ended up being a cushion, preventing him from a hard fall.

They both fell to the floor, and Jonathan instinctively protected her head with his hands, preventing a concussion.

Jonathan's wet body was on top of her, and he was naked. The realness of it made Kathie's face flush. "Get up, you jerk."

Jonathan was speechless. "I want to, but I can't move right now."

He said that, but he didn't really want to get up. Her body was soft and smelled nice. His heart was racing. Was it because he hadn't been with a woman for too long?

Considering he was injured, Kathie gently pushed him off, closed her eyes, and fumbled for a towel to cover him. "Do you want to die? If I hadn't come in just now, falling like that would have wasted all the treatment from the past few days and made your injuries worse."

Doctors hated disobedient patients the most, and he was one of them.

Jonathan was also scared. "Sorry, my bad."

Kathie sighed. She could understand an injured person's feelings, but this couldn't be rushed.

"I don't want this to happen again. You must follow my instructions strictly, or I'll send you away immediately. If you die here, I won't be able to explain," she said.

"Got it. Thanks for earlier."

Jonathan's cold heart melted a bit when she rushed over without hesitation.

The feeling of pressing against her was strangely familiar, almost making him think Kathie was the woman he had slept with four years ago.

Unfortunately, she wasn't!

Kathie struggled to get him back to the room, dried him off, and gave him acupuncture.

Since he had fallen, she didn't dare insert the needles too deeply.

The next morning, Kathie was packing some herbs, getting ready to leave.

Eileen circled the table. "Mommy, where are you going?"

Kathie rubbed Kyle's cute face. "Mommy is going to see my grandma. You take care of your siblings." She glanced at Jonathan in the wheelchair, thinking he couldn't help anyway, so she kept quiet.

Jonathan was puzzled.

She was completely ignoring his existence, and that look was highly insulting.

"Mommy, I want to go with you," Kyle said.

"Me too. I want to see great-grandma," Eileen echoed.

Kathie gently reassured them, "Be good. Mommy has other things to handle today. I'll take you next time."

She didn't want the kids to see the shameless side of the Cavendish Family. Besides, she would definitely run into Randy and his mistress, and the kids would be a distraction.

Kyle, the most understanding, said, "Don't worry, Mommy. I'll take care of them. Come back soon."

Jonathan frowned and stepped forward. "Don't you have anything to say to me?"

Kathie thought for a moment. "Yes."

Jonathan's eyes lit up, only to hear Kathie say, "Just don't cause any trouble."

Jonathan was speechless.
