Chapter 2 Bringing Triplet Babies Back to the Country

Four years later.

Eldoria International Airport.

It was the weekend, and the airport was buzzing with activity.

Kathie was juggling a child in her arms and another by the hand. She reminded her eldest son, Kyle Cavendish, "Make sure you hold your brother's hand tight. There are too many people here, so don't get lost."

"Don't worry, Mommy!" Kyle said, gripping Zachary's hand firmly and sticking close to Kathie.

Zachary's round eyes sparkled with excitement as he took in the bustling crowd. "Mommy, there are so many people who look like us!"

Having grown up abroad, they rarely saw familiar faces, which made the naturally lively Zachary even more thrilled.

Kathie found a stroller and placed her children in it. Her triplets, with their adorable and handsome looks, immediately caught the attention of passersby.

Back then, she had decided to keep the children, not expecting to have triplets. The hardships were unimaginable, but she felt fortunate to have these three lovely children with her, bringing her happiness and fulfillment.

She had planned to live abroad permanently, but with the children reaching school age, she decided to return home. She also had something she wanted to investigate.

"Mommy, where are we going?" asked Eileen Cavendish, the youngest and only girl among the triplets, tilting her head with innocent, round eyes.

"We're going to Mommy's grandmother's house," Kathie replied.

Kathie hailed a cab, holding Eileen in her arms while the other two sat beside her. The four of them squeezed into the back seat.

The cab driver, seeing Kathie alone with three children, couldn't help but comment, "You look so young, and you already have three kids. Why are you out here alone? Where's their dad? How come you're handling everything by yourself?"

The topic of their father was always sensitive around the children, and Kathie usually dodged the question. However, Kyle and Zachary, being more mature than their peers, were no longer easily fooled.

Just as Kathie was struggling to respond, Zachary chimed in with a cheeky grin, "Our dad is busy working, sir. Is that picture of your daughter?"

Zachary pointed to a photo pendant hanging in the cab.

"Yes. She's a couple of years older than you," the driver replied, his attention shifting to his daughter.

Kathie watched her children chat with the driver, feeling a weight in her heart.

The radio suddenly announced, "Here's the latest traffic update. Jonathan Berkeley, the newly appointed CEO of the Berkeley Group, was in a car accident. His condition is unknown. If there are any witnesses, please contact the following number..."

Eileen, with surprising maturity, said, "There are so many car accidents these days. Please drive carefully, sir!"

The driver chuckled, "Don't worry, my driving skills are top-notch. I used to be a race car driver!"

When they reached their destination, Kathie recalled the news she had heard on the radio and fell into deep thought.

The Berkeley Family was prominent in Eldoria, and Randy was a distant relative.

The name of Jonathan Berkeley sounded familiar to Kathie, and she found herself lost in thought.

"Mommy! The water is overflowing!" Eileen called out.

Eileen's voice snapped Kathie back to reality. She realized she had been too distracted and quickly turned off the faucet.

After her grandmother passed away, Kathie inherited a house in the suburbs of Eldoria. She used to visit regularly to clean it, but over the past four years, it had gathered a lot of dust, though there were some footprints on the floor, likely from Randy checking if she was there.

Kathie had just returned and was cleaning with the kids, but she had been so lost in thought that the bucket was nearly overflowing.

"Eileen, you go rest. Mommy will mop the floor." Kathie then grabbed the mop and asked, "Where are your brothers?"

"Go, Mommy!" Eileen cheered her on. "Kyle is in the backyard, and Zachary went to get some tissues and then ran outside."

The backyard, overgrown with weeds and backed by a cliff, looked desolate.

Worried about the children's safety, Kathie put down the mop and took Eileen to the backyard.

"Kyle! Zachary!" Walking along the muddy path through the overgrown grass, Kathie called out for her children.

"Mommy! We're here!" Kyle's voice came from the grass ahead.

Kathie hurried over. "What are you doing here?"

Kyle looked up with his delicate face. "Mommy, we found someone."

Zachary stood up and handed her the tissues. "Mommy, he's bleeding and still breathing. We need to help him! Maybe we can get a reward!"

Kathie finally noticed the severely injured man lying on the ground. His clothes were torn, and his exposed skin was covered in wounds.

He was barely alive, and if they didn't help him soon, he might die.

Kathie looked up at the cliff's edge, which was out of sight. This man must have fallen from up there. It was a miracle he was still alive.

She set Eileen down and knelt beside the man, checking his eyes and pulse. After a few seconds, she stood up.

As a doctor, Kathie decided to save him.

It took a lot of effort to get the man back to the house. Ignoring the blood on her clothes, she laid him on the bed.

"Mommy, I'll get the first aid kit!"

"Mommy, I'll bring some water!"

"Mommy, I'll stay with you and this handsome man!"

Kathie remained silent.

Seeing Eileen staring at the man on the bed, Kathie couldn't help but smile.

Despite the bruises on his face, the man's handsome features were still evident.

She couldn't believe that young Eileen was already so captivated by his looks.

Kyle soon returned with the first aid kit and pulled Eileen's hand. "Eileen, don't call everyone handsome. You might get tricked when you grow up."

Eileen pouted. "But this man is really handsome. He looks a lot like Kyle."

Kathie paused, her hand holding the acupuncture needle, and looked closely at the unconscious man. There was indeed a resemblance to Kyle in his features.

"Mommy, are you going to use the needles?" Zachary asked excitedly, his round eyes wide.

Kathie smiled. "Yes, Mommy is going to save him. Be good, Kyle, take your brother and sister outside."

"Okay!" Kyle then obediently led Zachary and Eileen out.

Kathie took a deep breath and removed the man's clothes, leaving only his underwear. She then began placing needles at key acupuncture points.

The man's muscular body, with its defined abs, moved with his breathing. Her gaze fell on his right shoulder.

Kathie's hand froze in mid-air, her eyes widening.

There, on his shoulder, was a faint red bite mark.

Four years ago that night, Kathie bit down hard on the man's shoulder above her because the initial pain during sex was too intense, biting so hard she could taste blood.

This man not only had the same bite mark but also resembled her children.

Kathie stared in shock at the unconscious man. Could it really be such a coincidence?
