Chapter 4

He didn't understand the twitching in his eyes, ever since his saddest event in his life occurred, he had been so afraid of everything…life inclusive, couldn't talk to anyone not even Raymond. No one was to be trusted, absolutely no one.

“ Wake up child, you didn't eat your dinner earlier”.

“How are you, nanny?”.

“Not as bad as you look, you look terrible “. His nanny commented.

“you should know why nanny”.

“Life happens child”.

Sean scoffed, his nanny did not understand what kind of life he led. Life didn’t just happen for Sean. The pains he went through and the prices he has to pay.

“Sit back child” nanny proposed, she had always been a reliable force right from time.

“Everything will be fine Sean, things will get better”.

“What's uncle Drew's plan for the company”.

“Don't know child, maybe to lease it out finally and chase young girls with the proceeds” the nanny laughed at her dry jokes, helping him put on his coat, while she led the way to the dinning.

“He is lucky I am still a minor”.

“And he is so scared of you son”.

“That was my father's legacy and I am worried”.

“I'm sure things will get better under your guidance”.

His nanny sounded like a déité, her words were soothing, reassuring like a balm to his broken ribs, cutting through his soul like a new knife cutting through the smooth skin of potatoes.

“What's for dinner”

“Eggss”....

“Scrambled eggs “ she added plainly when she noticed his questioning gaze.

“Alright, I'm good with that, please add fresh apple juice to it, Thank you, Nanny” Sean requested.

—--------------------------------------------

There was a sudden knock on Sean's door. Sean knew who would visit him uninvited.

Raymond walked in casually with his always unbuttoned shirts. He flings a bag of what seemed like a box in it to Sean.

“Hey, Alpha King, I got you a gift” Sean makes a face as if to say, “not today, Ray”

He looks over at Sean, he can easily tell when he is troubled.

"Thinking about Nexgen again?" Raymond's voice called from behind as he surveyed the claw marks on his friend's bed.

Nexgen holdings was a long standing cooperation. Started by Sean's father, it was the standardized fulcrum of carlifornia's oil and gas fields. It ran through the coast, bearing the crest of excellence. It was crafted with trust as Sean's father foresaw the Californian appellation.

"You know how such issues annoys me" Sean spoke up, with a voice ladened with so much emotion.

"You are still angry with your father for ousting you".

"My father kept him as the caretaker, he is lucky the law is on his side. Raymond lifted up his friend's hands, it was hairy and coated with blood. Unfettered was he but how did he get these blood stains?

"Don't look at me like you dont know" Sean's voice sounded scary.

"You can not afford anyone to see you like this, for your uncle's sake".

"What do you mean he knows already" "Yes he does but it's his word against the people in court, they will think he is a fool if he uses your true nature against you. But it will be a dilemma, if people see that he is telling the truth". "So you are saying?" "Keep yourself together, we need Nexgen, we need economic power.”

"Oh please Raymond do not give that gaze, I was there when the government fought against Nexgen, it was my father's back bone when even my conniving uncle ordered my father to give up. I suffered from the mosquitoes in Africa when the oil treaty was signed, now that I need help, my father willed everything to a coward".

"You are not even up to the age, friend, we are all waiting for you to become an adult first. Your father had to follow the protocol". Sean raised his voice in a fit of rage, sauntering over his seat like a tattered kite.

"I could have been at peace, I could have had a reason to fight if it was not my uncle that was the caregiver" Sean replied with a bloodshot eye , tasting his own rebellion on the corner of his mouth.

"You feel he wouldn't give it back without a fight?" Raymond asked with concern knowing where his friend was coming from, Sean fought to be an alpha, fighting for Nexgen will be another tough battle. With a broken voice, Sean replied. "Father never liked his brother, I fear even the law was manipulated by him" Raymond's eyes grew wide.

"What do you mean?”

"You are my beta and am disappointed that you do not understand".

"The will was forged under duress".

The only sound she woke up to was the beeping sounds of the machine. The machine went on and on till her dreamy mind woke up to reality.

“What's that?”

Gabrielle woke up to see a straight legged woman on a fleece jacket walking towards her and a male too on a complementing shirt holding onto her like his life depended on it.

“She is awake” the woman let out a scream.

“Oh thank God,” the male added.

“Hi sweetie, I am Amanda, we knocked you over , and I am so sorry, I am so terrible at wheels” the woman called Amanda spoke in turns and Brielle just stared at her.

“She doesn't understand sweetie” the man observed and all that Gabrielle noticed was looking at this pixie faced woman with glossy lips and beautiful hair.

The door swung open.

“Oh doctor!” Amanda squealed.

“She's awake”.

“That's good news, she is a fighter, the effect on her head was gruesome, we didn't expect to come up this quickly”.

“ hello sweetheart, I am Amanda, Amanda Stuart, this is my husband, we ran you over”

“Yes….?” Gabrielle nodded like she was in space.

“We ran you over, like you were in a car accident”.

“An accident ?”Gabrielle asked, finding her voice.

“Yes baby a car accident, you were running and we knocked you over.”

“An accident?”

“Yes,” Amanda was beginning to be impatient.

“What's an accident? Gabrielle asked like a naive child.

“We ran you over with our car sweetie “ Amanda explained.

“Car?”

At this time, Amanda became wide eyed, her fears became known.

“I hope it is not what I am suspecting”.

“Like I said, the effect on her head was quite heavy, head on collision, has been unconscious for two weeks, I suspected this will happen “. The doctor commented.

“How will we trail her guardians?” Amanda's voice dominated the atmosphere, she sounded like the woman in control.

“We will put her in close watch, that will help us come to a firm conclusion “.

“Firm conclusion?”

‘’That she is just having a hard time remembering things, that it is not post-traumatic amnesia”.

“Amnesia?”

“That sounds serious,” the man spoke up .

“How many fingers am I holding up?”.

“Ummmm, what are fingers?”

“These things I’m holding up”.

“Are those fingers?”

“Yes”

“I don't know how to call it”

“When something is doubled”

“Have forgotten the word for it”.

“It's two”

“What's two?”

“What do you mean by two?”.

“My fingers are two”.

“Oh”.

“So angel you cannot remember anything about your parents?”

“What are you talking about?”

“You know parents, people who take care of you”

“I don't know what you are talking about, I thought you were”.

“What's going on doctor”.

“There was a murder case on the street you picked her up. Beheading, I think the child has not remembered, it is like the brain trying to protect itself”.
