Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Luca Bianco
POV
It was like every other night. I came to the club to go over the books like I do every Monday night. The club’s full and business it’s unlike a Monday night.
“Luca check it out…” Allesio Silva my right-hand man hands me a file.
I from and chuck it to the side. “I don’t care about the Russians.” I watch the dance floor packed tight as a tin of sardines.
Allessio sits beside me. He scoffs as he looks at the bartender place a twenty in his pocket when no one is looking…
I roll my eyes. Darren has been doing it for a week now. He thinks we don’t know. The only reason I’m letting him be is because I wanted to see just how far he would go… “How much has he taken so far?” I ask.
“Five hundred…” Allessio says.
“I’m going out back for a smoke. Watch him. Tonight, he goes to the pit…” I tell him.
Allessio’s smiles widely. He claps his hand in excitement.
I walk down the stairs and out the back entrance. I always smoke out here, it’s quiet in the alley. It helps me calm down.
I light my cigarette.
I roll my neck.
I near a faint noise. I pause; I grab my gun. Who would be dumb enough to attack me at my club, filled with my men? When there’s no sound following it. I assume it’s a cat and I go on with smoke. My left hand hasn’t left my gun though.
When I hear faint baby cries, I pause. A baby out here? Well, it’s not the first time a crack head left a baby out here, I walk toward the sound of the cries, I take out my gun just in case. Bloody hell it’s raining out, who the hell would be heartless enough to leave a baby out here all by itself?
I frown when I see a woman in a thin dress and her clinging to a jacket.
When I take a closer look, I see the girl is bleeding down below and the jacket she’s clinging to is the baby I heard crying.
Ah shit.
I call Allessio. “Get Andre to drop Darren off at the pit, I need you to bring my car out back and get the doctors at the compound. Bloody hell it looks like this woman gave birth out here.” I say before hanging up.
I look at the girl again, she doesn’t look like a crack head. The clothes she’s wearing is expensive.
I check the woman’s pulse, it was faint. Thank God she’s alive. I can’t deal with a police investigation now, for a dead woman in my alley way.
I shrug off my leather jacket, I pry the baby out of her arms and wrapped my jacket over the coat.
“What the hell?” Allessio shakes his head.
“Did you call the doctors? Her pulse is weak. We need to get to the compound…” I tell him.
I carry the baby to the car while he carries the woman to the car.
The drive back to the compound is eerie quiet. Allessio doesn’t say a word. Whereas the baby in my arms, is sleeping peacefully. I’ve checked five times already whether the baby was still alive.
I don’t know why I’m bringing them back to the compound. I don’t normally do this. I normally send the baby to the drop off zone and leave them be. Bringing someone to the compound was dangerous, not just for me and my men, but this unknown woman and her baby.
Who was this woman and why would she give birth in an alley instead of in a hospital, she looks like she can afford it.
When we got back to the compound, I ordered Allesio to help me get the woman out of the car and into one of the guest rooms in the East wing. The team is waiting.
The doctor takes the baby as well. I watch over the baby as they run tests and whatever else they need to do.
I watch them cut the umbilical cord.
We had a hard time carrying the baby and the girl so close together because of the cord. I wasn’t sure how to cut that or if I could, so I left it be.
I get Maria, my housekeeper, to get clothes for the mother and the baby.
I ordered one of my men to look into the woman. I needed to find out who she is. I don’t want trouble coming to my doorstep.
“Maria, I have work to catch up on. Watch the baby for me. Can you get what it needs? What does babies normally eat?” I ask.
Maria smiles brightly. “I’ve Already asked Maggie to get formula, diapers and the clothes for the baby and the woman…”
I went to my office to get some work done; the club was doing well. I’ll be able to go back to Italy in the next six months.
I have a few clubs opening in Italy as well.
“Sir…” Doctor Marshall knocked on my door.
“Come in.”
He opens the door and walks in.
“How is she?” I ask.
“She’s got a severe fever and she had just given birth, I gave her something for the fever and I put her on a drip, but I’m not sure if it’s because of the severe bleeding or if she got an infection from being in the rain and giving birth in the dirty alley, she seems to have slipped into a coma. We have managed to stop the bleeding, and we have blood on the way for the transfusion. The baby is being checked right now.” He explains.
I nod. We walk back to the east wing; the baby is crying. I walk in to see the baby wailing bloody murder.
“What the hell is going on?” I roar.
While all the doctors froze in fear the baby seemed to have quieted down.
I frown and walk over to the baby.
“As-as soon as you left sir, the baby she wouldn’t stop crying…” the nurse explains.
Baby’s been changed into a little pink onesie… I pick up the little thing.
Babies don’t normally like me. This one seems to find some kind of peace with me. I was the thing that goes bang in the night. What an odd baby…
I had a few of my guards set up the baby things in the room beside mine since the mother was in no condition to help. I wasn’t even sure what this baby needed.
I walk around with the baby in my arms. The little thing was peacefully sleeping while I watched into the pit, it smelt like it usually did, like piss and blood.
Was that bad for babies? I would have left her upstairs if she stayed asleep and quiet the second I put her down.
“Darren…” I smile taking a seat in front of him.
His eyes widen. “I didn’t. I didn’t steal from you!” he shouts.
I glare at him when the baby lets out a moan.
“Can’t you see the baby is sleeping. Don’t scream or I’ll kill you…” I warn him.
His eyes widen, he looks at the baby then me. He nods.
“Why did you take over five hundred dollars from my till Darren. You can try to deny it all you like Darren, I’ve seen you do it for over a week now…” I warn him not to lie to me.
“My-my mother’s sick. I needed the money for her medical bills…”
I raise my brow… “Darren your mother died at birth. Try again… Why did you take my money?” I ask him.
His eyes widen… “I-I owe money to some scary people. I was gonna put it back I promise…” he says anxiously.
I look at the time. Maria said she would need to feed soon again. I get up and shake my head at Darren.
“You dumb ass I would have spared you if you hadn’t lied to me Darren. Allessio kill him!” I order before walking out of the room, leaving behind the screaming Darren and the trigger happy Allesio.
While I’m feeding the baby, my man came back with the information I needed.
I read it while I am feeding.
[Name: Alexandria Rossi
Age: 24 years old
Date of Birth: 12 July 1999
Marriage status: Married
: Spouse Benjamin Rossi
Net worth: 8 dollars
Parents: Mother – Brenda Simpson Businesswoman
: Father – Johnathan Simpson deceased.]
I look up from the information and at Nikolai questionably if she comes from a rich family why was she on the side of the road.
“Sir tonight Mrs. Rossi was thrown out of her mother’s house by her husband and mother. She was then chased down by men sent by the husband’s mistress. I looked into the husband; he had been syphoning money out of her trust. He left her penniless. She had nowhere else to go…” Nikolai explains
I nod and dismiss him, but then I remembered something. “Wait.” I say
He stops and looks at me.
“Keep an eye on the husband for me…” I tell him.
He nods.
“Does the baby have a name?” I ask.
He shakes his head. “It doesn’t seem like she had a name picked out…” he says before walking out.
When was the mother going to wake up?
I look at the little girl in my arms. She was going to remain nameless until her mother woke up. How long was the mother going to be out? Did she plan to wake up anytime soon?
Fuck was does one do.
This was the first time I have ever been in this situation…
Maria comes into my office.
“Sir she needs to be burped…”
I look at her confused.
Maria walks up to me and gently takes her out of my arms. I watch as she places what looks like a small towel on her shoulder and massages the baby’s back.
I watch after a few minutes how she vomits up her dinner.
I frown. “Does she have to drink more milk now that she threw it all up?”
Maria smiles. “No, she’s fine… Do you want me to lay her in her room?” she asks.
I nod.
“Maria. Do you think I should wait for the mother? The baby doesn’t have a name…” I ask.
“Well, it’s not really my place to say. But she does need a name…”
“Elena…” I whisper out as I look at her sleeping peacefully in Maria’s arms.
“It’s a beautiful name… Isn’t Elena?” she says softly.
“When the mother wakes up, she can change it…” I tell her.
She nods before walking out of my office with Elena.
