Chapter 3

"Celestine!"

I don't know if I heard it right. It was the voice of their new boss. But it's absolutely impossible for a big-time boss to personally visit his ordinary employee. What's worse is that the employee is involved in a catfight.

Before I could turn around to face the comfort room door. Someone grabbed my hand and shoulder. He carefully lifted me from my seat on the tiled floor.

"Are you okay, Miss Delaney?" It was Mr. Ares. Mr. Sullivan's assistant.

I looked at him curiously. Why was he here? I turned to the door. Mr. Sullivan was there, the security guards holding him back.

I saw his red eyes again. If earlier it was just a split second, Now I can see them with my own eyes! How did his eyes become red? As far as I know, they were blue!

I must be crazy, right?

"Ares" Mr. Sullivan called sternly. It was as if he would burst with anger at the slightest touch.

"I'll take care of this. Go to your office. You know what will happen if you don't do what I say." Mr. Ares said.

Mr. Sullivan gritted his teeth. His fists clenched with a disapproval look.

"What's happening?" I asked, confused. Am I delirious? Did I hit the sink badly? That's why I'm seeing strange things around me?

"Miss Delaney, you need to go to the clinic to get your wound treated"

"But-" I couldn't find the words to express the thoughts that were bothering me.

"She needs to go to the hospital! Dammit!" suddenly, Mr. Sullivan shouted.

"Will you calm down?" said Mr. Ares. Annoyed. "She needs to go to the clinic while waiting for the ambulance"

"Fuck that ambulance! Why did they take so long to arrive?! I really should have built the company near the hospital."

"Don't be too exaggerated."

"I'm not" Mr. Sullivan's snobbish answer.

Mr. Ares looked at the other security guards. Not minding the sentiment of our new CEO.

"Get Miss Chloe out of this building! Now! I'll deal with her later" he ordered.

I was confused. I saw Chloe turning pale with fear. She probably didn't mean to push me into the sink. It's so sudden to react.

I jumped with surprise when someone lifted me up. Even Mr. Ares was stunned by what happened.

Mr. Sullivan picked me up!

He was walking fast. He was sure where he was going. My heart was beating so fast. I didn't know if it was from shock or for other reasons.

I couldn't speak when he laid me down on the clinic bed. His expression was serious. It was scary to speak. His previously red eyes turned blue again. So, maybe I just imagined it? That's not really red.

He carefully took betadine and cotton to treat the wound on my forehead. I couldn't even react to what he was doing. I was really scared. He looks intimidating.

After he did that, he put gauze on me. He also took a clean towel to wipe the blood that had spread to my forehead and hands. I forgot the blood on my hands as well as the memories that flashed back into my brain earlier. It's as if these things never happened today.

Mr. Sullivan sighed.

"Next time, be careful. You won't always have someone to help you," he said, sounding troubled, after a few minutes of silence.

I looked into his eyes. To make sure they were really blue. He also looked at me seriously. I stared at him intently. Why is that? Why do I feel like I know him so well? My heart can't stop beating so hard.

"Have we met before?" I can't help but ask. When I see him. My heart reacts differently.

"Tsk" was all he could say to my question. Then he looked away from me. Mr. Sullivan moved a little away from me and sat on the chair that was at the side.

I was so embarrassed. I knew it was impossible. I bowed down in shame. I also had the courage to ask the CEO of the company. While I was just an ordinary employee. Very brave huh?

"You waited for the ambulance to arrive here. The company covers all expenses so you don't have to worry about the cost," said Mr. Sullivan.

"Thank you very much" was all I could say.

"Tsk. Fuck…" he whispered next to me. I frowned. I had heard him curse under his breath earlier. Was he cursing at me?

"I'm sorry for the mess I made. It won't happen again. I'll try to avoid it if it happens again."

"That will never happen. Especially here in my company. Not on my watch" Mr. Sullivan said in a serious voice.

I just didn't speak. I couldn't say anything to him. I still felt the embarrassment from earlier.

"I assure you, there will be no- ugh…" he suddenly clutched his chest. It seemed like he was having trouble breathing. Mr. Sullivan also covered his face.

"Mr. Sullivan, are you okay?" I asked worriedly. I remembered earlier before I entered his office. He looked like that too.

"Get away from me!" he burst out. I didn't continue to approach Mr. Sullivan. "D-don't come any closer…" he struggled.

"But.. You're having a hard time."

"J-just don't come near me. I'm fine as long as you're far from me…"

Huh? What did he say?

"Mr. Sullivan-"

"Just don't go near me! Didn't you hear what I said?! Ugh…" he leaned down even more. And held his chest tightly.

I don't know what to do. Will he die?

I was in that situation when Mr. Ares arrived. He hurriedly approached Mr. Sullivan. His expression was scared.

"I told you, Markus!" he said. Scolding him.

"Y-yeah…yeah… Let's leave here."

Why did I end up in this situation?

"Miss Delaney, bodyguards will escort you to the waiting ambulance. Robles will accompany you to the hospital," said Mr. Ares. He helped Mr. Sullivan to get up. Mr. Sullivan was weak. He was fine earlier. But why did this happen?

"I-I'm thirsty, Ares… I want to drink" seemed out of his mind when he said that. His voice is undistinguished.

"Stop it, Markus. If you don't want it to be like what happened the other day"

"I-I want.."

I didn't hear what he said because I was already surrounded by bodyguards, including Mr. Robles. Mr. Sullivan's head bodyguard.

I was quiet while inside the ambulance. Mr. Robles was there with me. He was wearing an all-black suit and a pair of black eyeglasses. He was just sitting there seriously. Guarding.

"Miss Delaney, please be careful next time"

"Sir?" I asked in surprise. Would it be complicated if something happened to me inside the company? Would they be in danger? Will the company's reputation be tarnished?

Mr. Robles didn't say anything anymore. He was quiet again in his seat.

I guess I need to take a long rest. I'm noticing. Ever since I started working overtime, things have been weird, and I have hallucinations. I'm seeing things that are impossible.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the nurses and doctors there immediately took care of me. I was also given a CT scan to see if there was any damage to my brain. Thank God, the results were all negative. Even my x-ray results were negative. I don't have any bone fractures. I feel like I had a general check-up. I can say that because all kinds of doctors checked me out. Even the OBYGNE checked up on me! When you hit your head, do you also get a checkup for the uterus?

After a few hours. I'm back at my apartment. I was just lying on my bed. Thinking about what happened earlier. To this day, I still can't come to a conclusion as to why Mr. Sullivan reacted to me the way he did. And he's difficult to decipher! I don't understand him. He's nice to me and then after a few minutes he seemed irritated by my presence. His mood quickly changed.

I hugged myself. The air suddenly became cold. It had a different vibe. I stood up from my bed and went to the window to look outside. I felt like someone was watching me from the outside.

I looked around. I didn't notice anything unusual. Apart from the quiet midnight, all I could see were lights on lamp posts.

Lights on the lamp post?

I held my head. It's like someone is whispering in my brain.

'… I can't hold back anymore. A little bite will do'

Subconsciously, I touched my neck. That voice! It gives a chill inside my spine. What the fuck is that?!
