Chapter 4: I'll do anything you want
The words that left his mouth shattered my heart completely, how could this have happened. What's going to happen to me now, what's going to happen to us.
I broke down and started sobbing, covering my face in my palm.
He walked towards the bed and sat close to me, pulling me towards himself as I bawled my eyes out.
He is the reason I am feeling like this. He is causing me so much pain and yet I want nothing more than to be in his arms, I couldn't tell if this was some form of trauma bonding.
“Baby please I need you to stop crying, I hate seeing you like this, I hate myself for putting you in this position, my heart can't stand seeing you in so much pain.”
His words melted my heart.
“I'll do anything you want, if you want Isla to disappear without a trace, gone from the house and our life forever, I'll arrange for that to happen. Just say the word and I'll make it happen, I swear to you,” he said.
His voice was extremely soft but his seriousness was evident, he meant every word he said.
As much as I hated Isla, she's pregnant and she needs all the care in the world now more than ever.
Throwing her out would be too extreme and unsafe for the baby, Zane's baby.
“You can't do that,” I blurted out, lifting my head up as I wiped the tears off my cheeks.
“The deed has already been done and she's carrying your child, something I haven't been able to do for the past 3 years,” I smiled softly , but behind that smile, I was a mess.
“Baby it is my mistake, a mistake I can undo and our life and marriage will be back on track, just say the word.”
I can't let him handle this, not the way he handled the men I heard him talking about over the phone at the hospital.
“Do you love me?” I asked him in a calm tone.
“Baby I love you more than life itself, you're my whole word.”
His words really touched me and I couldn't help but smile at him.
I nodded my head , “That's all I need to know, from your story, what happened with Isla was a mistake, something that wasn't supposed to happen and I played a role in it because if my accident hadn't happened, you wouldn't have ended up at a club drinking yourself to a pulp.”
“Baby don't blame yourself, this whole thing is all me, it's all my fault, you did nothing wrong.”
“It’s okay. She's going to have the baby, your baby. And even if you get married to her, I'll understand because it's something beyond your control,” I managed to force a smile even when the tears pooled at my eyes were almost blurring my vision.
He leaned in and kissed my eyes, almost like he was trying to kiss the tears away, then he put his right hand behind my neck, keeping my face in place as he planted a very soft kiss on my forehead.
He pulled away and asked, holding me by my waist, “Do you wanna go for a therapeutic shopping?”
“A what?”, I've heard of a lot of things, but a therapeutic shopping???
“You used to go on shopping sprees to clear your head whenever we had an. argument, so I thought maybe you would want to do the same thing now.”
He caressed my hair, brushing it downwards with his fingers, “I already called Shawna and asked her to come over, my driver will take you guys around town to any luxury store of your choice.”
“Shawna?” I asked, with excitement evident in my voice.
Shawna was my best friend, almost like a sister, we grew up together and she has always been part of my life and I a part of hers.
“Yes baby, she's been blowing up my phone and bugging Elias si….”
A sharp, stabbing pain shot through my skull the moment I heard the name, Elias. I sucked in a breath, wincing as my hand flew to my head, with my fingers pressing against my forehead like it could somehow stop the ache.
“Baby are you okay?” Zane asked, holding my arm, he was firm but careful, his concerned eyes searching mine for any sign of distress.
“Yeah I'm fine, the doctor said I would get flash headaches and it's a part of my healing process, I'm okay.” I couldn't understand why my body reacted that way the moment I heard the name Elias but I wasn’t going to mention it to Zane. Still, I was curious.
“Who's Elias?” I asked Zane, judging from what he said, I guess the person had some form of relationship with Shawna.
“Baby he's my step brother, a couple of years older than me, and he has a thing with Shawna, they're together.”
“Oh.” Elias and Shawna are in a relationship and the only connection I have with Elias is that he's my brother-in-law.
Maybe me getting the flash headache the moment I heard his name was just a coincidence and it doesn't mean anything.
“Are you sure you're strong enough to leave the house?” Zane questioned out of concern.
“I'm not passing up on an opportunity to go shopping just because of some headache,” I asserted.
“Here,” he said, stretching his hand, he was holding an American Express black card.
“Bills on me,” he scoffed. "like you've ever had to worry about bills since we got married.”
“Why would I have to,” I let out a chuckle. I was married to a billionaire, not just a billionaire but one of the richest men in the united states, why would I have to worry about paying my own bills.
I took the card and stood up, “We're taking your RR Cullinan.”
“Even if you want a Chopper,” he smirked looking directly into my eyes “I'll make it happen.”
He sure has his way with words.
“The driver's going to take you to an Apple store when you're done shopping, you need a new phone and a computer.”
“Amyyyyy,” Shawna screamed my name as she ran towards me and picked me up, spinning me around a couple of times.
“I've missed you so much, I'm so glad you are okay.” She had the brightest smile on her face, she was just like a warm breath of fresh air and seeing her was one of the best things that had happened to me since I left the hospital.
“I'm so glad you're here,” I said as I smiled back at her.
“A little birdie tells me you're dating my brother-in-law,” I teased her, smiling mischievously. “Do you mind sharing the detailssss?”
“Girl, you literally introduced me to him and set up our first date.” she replied
This discovery was shocking to me, I must admit.
“I understand you wouldn't remember tho, so I'm gonna fill you in on everything on our shopping date, the driver’s waiting.” She added, gesturing towards the direction where Zane's car was parked.
There was a black car in the front and two black cars behind our car with up to 10 armed men standing, waiting for us to get in the car so they would follow suit.
We walked towards the car and I was about stepping in when I heard a gut wrenching voice coming from behind me
“Hey!!!”, it was Isla.
“You might want to consider booking a taxi, I'm going grocery shopping because I need to cook for my husband-to-be and since I'm carrying his baby, his heir, I require utmost protection from his men and also the comfort of driving in his car, so you and your little minion can step back,” she declared.
Shawna let out a sarcastic laugh, “Girl you better be joking.”
From the look on Isla's face I could tell she wasn't having it.
“I’d rather you don't open your filthy mouth and talk to me, I detest engaging with the less privil.…”
Shawna lunged at Isla before she could finish her statement and I wasn't surprised, Shawna had never been someone to mess with.
