CHAPTER 4

Madelyn’s POV

When he left the tears I had held in, flowed freely and I covered my mouth with my hands, to muffle my cries. I made my way into the bathroom slowly, as I was still very sore in between my legs.

When I was done, I searched through my wardrobe for the black gown, and slipped it on. He had told me earlier when he gave it to me that it was specifically for a special occasion, so I wondered what occasion it was.

I packed my hair in a ponytail, took one last stop to the mirror. “You'll be alright” Nora consoled me as her reflection appeared. It was now I got a better look at her. Her aura was graceful and her voice soothed my raging nerves.

I got to the hall where Kieran had asked me to meet him. I took a seat among other wolves. My face contorted into a confused look when he called me to stand beside him on stage. The murmurs that erupted from the crowd, confirmed that I wasn't the only one that was stunned.

I was now standing beside him. “Without wasting much of your time. We all already know the reason for this gathering.” The crowd cheered as they chorused yes as their answer. “But for those that don't know.” He said, turning to look at me. “Today is the day I will be making my mate my Luna. But we all know what comes first.”

I don't quite understand, was the mate he was referring to me? Was he going to finally crown me his Luna just to keep torturing me? It's already bad that I was mated to him. Did this mean he loved me?

Before I could comprehend all that was happening around me. A blonde wearing a red velvet gown climbed up the stage and Kieran took her arms in his.

“Jacinta? Is that you.” I called out trying to make out the face behind the makeover.

“Are you surprised? Oh dear, don't give me that look. You are a good for nothing wolf. You have no family and nothing to your name. Did you really think our friendship was genuine?” She spat.

She turned to Kieran “You can go ahead, baby.”

“I, Kieran Cormac, Alpha of the Raven claw pack, reject Madelyn Amenadiel as his fated mate. Do you accept or reject?”

My world started spinning beneath me. The thoughts in my head clashing into one another as though they were ripples. I never saw this coming. After everything he had done to me. He still rejected me.

Jacinta fooled me all this while and to think I was foolish enough to… Noooo…The secrets of heirloom. I gave it all away just like that. I trusted her and now it is clear that she was plotting with Kieran the whole time. She was never a friend, she was just using me. With the rage that coursed through me I charged towards her and scratched her face with my claws and threw a few punches in between.

The pain of severing a mate's bond went both ways. The amount of pain was the same for both mates. I’d seen how it played out with a few of the wolves that decided to reject their female mates. But now it is happening to me. Thank the moon goodness I had my wolf now..I doubt my human body would’ve been able to handle it.

Kieran you have done enough to me already. I can't afford to let you see me weak. “I accept your rejection.”

I could feel the mate bond shattering into a million pieces inside of me. But as if that wasn't enough he kissed Jacinta, that two faced bitch passionately in front of me and sunk his fangs into her neck declaring her his mate and Luna.

I bit my teeth to hold in the pain. But it was too overpowering. I let out screams as I fell to my knees, my bones cracked and twisted in all directions. I was shifting into my wolf and I was out of control. I could feel it. But before I knew it everything started to fade and I blacked out.

I woke up to see myself in my most frequent place. The dungeons. In fact I was not surprised. Knowing Kieran he was going to give me a befitting punishment for what I’d just done. I needed to get out of here and I needed to do it now.

“Nora, are you there?.” I called out.

“Yes. I’ve got it all sorted out.” She growled.

The dungeon door opened again revealing one of the maids that usually brought me food.

“Hurry we don't have much time. Put this on.” She said as she tossed a cloth over to me.

“What's going on? Where are you taking me to? I questioned as I slipped into the staff uniform she had given to me.

“Questions later, but now you need to leave. Kieran wants you executed at first light.”

“What?” I exclaimed. That monster couldn't stop at nothing until he wiped my entire lineage off the face of the earth.

We slipped past a group of guards that were drinking around a fire. She clearly knew her way around that was for sure as we didn't meet anymore guards.

We got to the back entrance and she opened it up for me. “Thank you very much. May the moon goddess reward you.”

“You have your wolf to thank. I wish you good luck.” with that she left.

Nora? I’m supposed to thank my wolf? I didn't have time for questions. I needed to leave this pack before we got caught.

We wandered around in the woods for days without meeting a single soul. I had given control to my wolf as I was already too weak. It was liberating letting her out like this.

Soon we came to stop in front of the golden gate that shone brightly from afar in the middle of nowhere. I shifted back to my human form as I needed to press the doorbell.

Days in the woods without eating and my legs were already wobbling. My vision was already dimming. The ground beneath me was already spinning. I managed to press the doorbell several times before I took my last breath, but before my body slumped to the floor a pair of strong hands caught me.

As he stared down on me. My body had a sudden rush of electricity, I felt tingles all over my body. But when I looked into his eyes I could see them, the beautiful color of his eyes. They were blue which meant he was a Lycan.

“Mate, Mate”. Nora stirred as her excitement seeped into mine, mirroring my deep feelings for the figure I had just met.

I couldn't hold out any longer as my eyes fell shut and my world went dark.

---------

I woke up on a king size bed that had a feathery feel and a luxury room that looked like it was meant for kings. The room was painted all white. Different paintings hung on the wall. The curtains were beige in colour and a chandelier hung in the middle of the room casting a soft glow.

My eyes darted to a figure on the other side of the room. “Hey you are awake.” The lady in white smiled as her blue eyes met mine.

I couldn't recall how I got here. The last I remember was getting rejected by my mate, then escaping into the woods and …… Just then all my memories played back.

“No no no no!” I screamed.

This can’t be happening. I wandered into the Lycan’s territory. The figure that carried me had blue eyes. Only Lycans possessed that trait. Kieran didn't kill me at first sight but I’m sure as hell that they would. They wouldn't even hesitate for a second. Why do unfortunate things keep happening to me? I finally escaped my beast of a mate only to end up here? I have to run. Now!

A jolt of energy rushed through me as I jumped from my bed sitting straight at the sudden realization of where I was.

The lady in white walked closer to me with her palm stretched out “Calm down.”

But I paid her no heed. I pushed her away and she landed on the floor. Immediately I threw my legs down from the bed and stood up. But before I could take a step an excruciating pain shot through my skull and I fell to ground.

The lady in white rushed to where I was to help me get up but I thrashed against her grip. “You’re going to kill me, let me go.” I screamed and tears streamed down my eyes.

“Steady you are pregnant and you are going to hurt your baby. Guards.” She called out and immediately two men dressed in a brown khaki stormed in. “Hold her down.” She commanded and they pinned my arms and legs to the floor as I kept thrashing against their holding.

Did she just say baby? I am pregnant? The next thing I could feel

was a sting on my neck followed by the feel of a cold liquid and everything went dark again.
