Chapter4

JASON'S POV

“I fixed my gaze on the large screen with intense security, a wave of disappointment churning my stomach like a twisted vine”

I scoffed, unable to hide my disdain.

“Is everything okay, Sir?” one of my men asked, his voice trembling slightly under my intense stare.

“Everything is fine but..” I stopped, as my gaze caught the face on the screen.

The camera was dark and it couldn't capture her face clearly.

Two months ago, I helped a girl who was obviously hopeless and wasting away in my hotel.

She had drunkenly insisted that we both had intimacy which I had obliged and had disappeared the next day leaving no traces behind.

I had totally forgotten to ask for her band or any other personal information of hers.

Just today, my personal assistant had brought a strange object which he had found in my room.

It was a diamond bracelet and I recognized it instantly. It belonged to my sworn enemy, the man I had sworn to kill and I was just waiting for the perfect time.

My curiosity was piqued as soon as soon as I set my eyes on the bracelet.

“Meyer's signature object?”

“This must be a sign, my enemy seems to be closer than I ever thought.

I trailed my thoughts searching for the possible means the object must have found itself into my personal abode not until a thought struck my mind.

I had brought a girl inside my sturdy, an action which was against my personal rules.

She was probably a spy or an aide to my enemy?

I ordered for the surveillance cameras to be brought and traced.

I watched as she hastily rushed out of the room, muttering inaudibly words to herself, leaving the object behind which later fell off the table.

Her face was hardly captured by the camera as the room was not bright enough.

I watched slowly with keen interest, and then finally I was able to capture her face.

“Yes!” I exclaimed in excitement, causing the room to calm silent, all eyes now focused on me, their faces expressing a blend of curiosity and fear.

“Come here, I need you to find this girl” I pointed at her on the camera, while taking a picture of her face with my phone.

“Trace her and bring her to me with immediate effects”

“Do that before the end of this week or consider yourself jobless” I proclaimed, my eyebrows raised.

“I don't tolerate ineptitude”I instructed my men, who were always ready to take my orders.

“Yes Sir” the official head among them responded, his assurance convincing.

I slammed my palms on the table, sealing my orders.

As my men vacated the room, I stared at the bracelet in my hands, my face pulled up in a devilish smirk.

“We would get to know the devil amongst us” I whispered to the bracelet.

It was not less than two hours when Leo walked into the room, panting heavily.

“Good evening sir” Leo greeted, breaking the silence which lingered in the room.

I feigned disinterest, retreating further into my thoughts.

“Sir, i think we have found her” he broke the news, causing me to lift my eyebrow upwards, my eyes filled with curiosity.

“What!” I snapped and a smile spread across his face.

“That seems interesting right?” He smiled subtly.

“We were not only able to trace her successfully, we also ran a background check on her” he continued handing over a brown envelope to me.

“Here are more pictures of her,” he said, handing another big, brown envelope.

“Her father and  mother's identity, her current location and a thorough check of her are entailed here” he smiled, while handing over a white envelope to me.

I smiled whole-heatedly, my heart gladdened at such a wonderful worker I had for myself.

Glancing my eyes through the files, I nodded my head, confirming every information on them.

I had a one-night stand with the only daughter of my enemy.

“She would surely be used as a pawn in my vendetta” I said loudly, my voice echoing with the joy that rippled through my soul.

“Leo, get the car engines serviced” I ordered him as he bowed down and left the room.

I got into the car and Leo kicked the engine to life.

“Where are we heading to, sir?” He asked.

“The only reason you are still breathing is because you work so hard, but if you continue to ask me senseless questions, I will cut off your tongue” I warned, my tone cold and steely.

“I think the location on the file” he mumbled to himself, driving us away.

It was a three hour drive before we arrived at a magnificent building.

“SPARK DATA ANALYSIS SERVICES” which was inscribed on the billboard on the cafe signified that she had succeeded at growing a profitable business.

I walked inside the cafe, my loud footsteps announcing my entrance.

There was a busy crowd in the cafe, as numerous workers walked through the crowd with their customized t-shirts.

I wandered my gaze through the crowd, searching for my aim.

I sighted a female figure at the corner, her hands clicking vigorously at the computer set before her.

I walked towards her, each of my steps were bold and calculating.

“Kayla” I called loudly and as she turned her back towards me, her facial expression which was of shock sent a surge of satisfaction coursing through my veins.

“Good afternoon sir, how can I help you?” She greeted me warmly.

“I think you need my help more than I need yours” I scoffed, noticing her fast heartbeat.

“Sir, I am quite busy, how can I be of help?” She asked again, her tone defensive.

“You are putting on the new panties, today?” I asked her.

Her eyebrows were furrowed, her expression a blend of surprise and disdain.

“What?” She asked.

“How about you offer your visitor a drink and have a good look at these documents” I threw the multiple files to her as she gestured her hand, offering me a seat.

“Kayla, the only daughter of the Meyer's familia, the only child of the deadliest man in the whole of New York”

“The one whose father had announced a frantic search for and hired cops to find and bring her home” I poured her identity litany to her.

I watched as her face pulled up into a dismayed look, her heavy breaths so audible that I could hear it.

“Sir…” she stammered, her face filled with rage.

“Please don't kill me..” she begged.

I laughed at her words, satisfied at the manner she shivered  like a wet rat.

“Do you know me?” I asked her.

“I don't really think I do,” she responded.

“The man from Savor hotel, I saved you and it's time you repay your debt” I snapped, loving the power her actions showered me with.

“Marry me for four years or I hand you back to your father” I dropped the bombshell, waiting for her next response.
