CHAPTER FOUR
I woke up with a start, coming to the realization that the banging sound was actually from my head.
I groggily opened my eyes, looking around me, trying to figure out what the hell happened.
But I was unable to focus on anything, instead, I had to carry my head on my hands, staring at the dirty tiled floor, blackened by years of neglect.
At least that tells me I was in unfamiliar ground. The room I'd been brought to had a white carpet on it, and the previous occupant must have been really clean.
At this observation, my brain suddenly poured out all the memories of the last time I was awake.
The human girl being sucked dry.
Me stupidly running into the path of an angry vampire.
Said angry vampire deciding I was going to be his breakfast instead.
And he had made true his words, draining me until I passed out.
But then, remembering how he'd been moaning at the taste of my blood had me feeling cold inside.
Vampires were disgusted by wolf blood.
That raised questions in my head but I assumed since my wolf wasn't with me anymore, I was no more human than the girl he almost killed in the morning.
I felt the headache subside a bit so I sat up, finally taking a look around the small stall I was in.
This was definitely not supposed to be anyone's room yet there was a bed in it. There was no window and the only source of light was the tiny flickering bulb in the middle of the small ceiling.
Food items were arranged all over the room in big bags, leaving very little space for the small bed and the polythene bag of clothes and stuff on the ground.
I stood up off the bed, wincing at the cranking sounds it made that shot straight to the migraine throwing a party in my head.
I stood for a bit, trying to steady myself for a bit before taking a step forward.
Bad idea.
I fell backward uncontrollably, dizzy all of a sudden. I fell on the bed, my back hitting the wood of the small bed, making me scream out in pain.
Feet shuffled outside as I struggled to sit up and lie back down.
Suddenly, the door swung open, revealing an older woman, frail to look at, but she seemed to stand with the strength of one bigger than her.
“Oh, you're going to hurt yourself!” She exclaimed as I kept trying to adjust.
She ran towards me, helping me into the bed.
“What's happening?” I asked her, the pain leaking into my tone. “What am I doing here?”
“They threw you out as they usually do, bunch of heartless cowards. They don't even try to check if their victim survived!” She snapped angrily, arranging me properly on the bed.
“I thought I was going to die,” I whispered, the pain making me wince even from my own voice.
“That's what they wanted, of course, but I knew you were different. A strong one for sure!” She replied ecstatically, looking me over again. “I brought you here immediately and got the slave doctor to look you over. You'll be fine but you need to sleep more. At least before they come down here for you again,” she finished, a biting edge to her tone.
Whoever she was, she definitely hated the Princes and their habit of feeding on humans till death.
One would expect that to be the normal sentiment, but then, humans who were brought in here were brainwashed by their human government. Hence, it's seen as a good thing to die in the process of being fed on. They're told the princes or other high-ranking vampires could revive you and permanently turn you into a vampire.
Hence, the desire to be their blood bags.
I heard some don't make it past three days.
I guess Julian, my former mate wasn't the only asshole in the world.
The thought of such handsome beings being the perpetrators of such cruelty made me feel worse.
I would have definitely liked them; maybe in another universe.
In this one, they're heartless assholes disguising their cruelty with the excuse of hunger and nature.
The woman, her wrinkled smile heightening her beautiful dimples, placed a warm towel on my head and then served me a plate of hot soup.
“Eat up and sleep. You need it,” she commanded me and I obeyed.
No one had cared about me before so all of this was strange.
My life since I got here was strange too, so I guess it had become my life now.
I slowly drank the soup at the beginning but inhaled the rest of it at the end. I was really hungry.
“Now make sure you force yourself to sleep. Your body needs the time to recuperate, alright?” she told me, and then she left again, locking the door firmly.
I sighed and lay back down, fitfully trying to sleep off.
I finally did but then the weirdest thing happened.
I dreamed of me, the Princes, and a weird blood pact they used me for.
That wasn't the craziest part.
In the dream, after drawing out my blood, they both latched onto my neck, sucking as much of my blood as possible, while fingering my pussy, making me scream in pleasure from both activities.
I woke up, and this time, I could tell it was already nighttime.
Not just because of the temperature of the room but because I could hear a commotion outside.
“She needs to earn her keep! Bring her out now!”
“Earn her keep?!” The older woman looking after me yelled at whoever was on the other end. I couldn't place her voice immediately, although it sounded really familiar.
“Yes Theodora, like everyone else in this palace,” she retorted, admit finally clicked.
It was the lady who had taken me to that slaughterhouse of a room to clean up the room.
Was she here to take me there again?
I literally nearly just died and she's still obsessed with making me work?
“You do know he almost killed her? You want to send her back there?!” Theodora yelled back at the Mistress, her voice strong and firm.
“Yes, she needs to do her job. Besides, the masters demand her presence so bring her out before this becomes bloody,” they threatened her.
They demand my presence?
What on earth for?
They probably wanted to finish what they started.
I didn't feel so terrible anymore and I wasn't comfortable staying back here while the Mistress talked down on the first woman to give me what to eat since the last time I saw my parents.
So I gradually stood up from the bed and headed towards the door.
I opened it to see the lady as well as the shocked look on Theodora.
“Thank you so much Ma'am, I'll never forget you,” I told her, touching her shoulder. That was the extent of my ability to be physical with anyone, don't blame.
“You look pale,” the Mistress commented on my look.
“Yes, I just had my blood drained from my body, what do you expect?” I snapped at her.
“Watch that attitude,” she threatened.
“I apologize. Let's go,” I said, waving her to the door of the kitchen. She shook her head irritatingly and then took hold of my hand, dragging me back down the lion's den.
