Chapter 7: My Heart.

At Night.

While thinking, Dua fell asleep and woke up at night. "Oh, my God," she jumped out of bed. "It's night already. How did I sleep that long when I'm not pregnant and I literally didn't do anything stressful all day."

She picked up Diane's phone which has now become hers. Her fingers flew across the phone's screen as she dialed Desmond's number. She held her breath, hoping he'd pick up. On the first ring, his cheerful voice filled the line. "Hello, who am I speaking with?"

Dua's tension eased, and she smiled, "It's me, Dua."

"Sis? Oh my God, sis, we've been so worried about you. How are you? When did you arrive? Where are you now? Have you found a job? Are you safe?" He rushed her with questions.

"I'm fine, that's all you need to know for now," she replied.

"Ok, but why are you calling with another number, while yours is switched off?" He asked.

"Can't explain that now. How's mom and Denise?" She said.

"They're great," he replied.

"Just tell them I'm doing fine, nothing more. I'll talk to you later, take care." She said.

"Take care, sis," he replied and Dua ended the call. She decided to call him instead of Denise because he would handle the situation more properly than Denise would.

She dropped the phone on the bed and went downstairs to the kitchen where she met Shane washing the dishes. "Hi," she made her presence known to him.

“Welcome, your food's on the table,” he turned and smiled at her.

She turned and saw her food alone on the table. The other two already had their dinner.

"Knucklehead?" She asked.

"He's in his study." Shane replied and she nodded. She walked to the dinning table and began to have her dinner. But the fact that she didn't know who she's married to worried her, so she asked, "What's his name?" Shane who was gobsmacked by her question turned and asked her, "you don't know his name?"

"If I do, I won't ask you," she said.

He looked at her, unable to believe her, but then spoke, "his name is Steven Levi."

"What does he do?" She asked next.

"You really don't know?" Shane just couldn't believe her and she shook her head.

He sighed, "He's the CEO of Universe Technologies, and the King of the Mexican Mafia."

"King? Mafia King?!!" She screamed suddenly, startling Shane.

"Why?!" She asked.

"I think you should direct that question to Steve, not me." Shane replied and returned to what he was doing.

"I see, no wonder," she nodded, finally understanding the reason for Steven's arrogant attitude.

"When you're done with eating, leave the dishes, I'll come to do them later." Shane said and she nodded. Then he left the kitchen, leaving her alone.

After having her dinner, she went back to the bedroom and opened her giant wardrobe filled with clothes enough to open a boutique. She picked out a night dress and went into the bathroom. Some minutes later, she came out, spreading her arms out and breathing in the nice scent the bath gel left on her. "Luxury is good."

"Diane's luxury," her inner self spoke to her and she snapped out of the fantasy. "Who's this Diane?" She asked and took her phone to see if she could gather some information. She unlocked the phone and opened the gallery. She saw Diane's photos looking exactly like her, only difference was their hair. Diane's hair is brown while hers is black. "Now I get it, Diane and I are look alike," she finally understood everything.

"The question now is where is Diane, and what happened to her?" Dua thought. While going through the call log, she discovered that the last person Diane spoke to was a number titled, "My heart ❤️." Being curious she dialed the number.

"What is it?" Steven's voice rang out.

"You're my heart?" She was shocked. "Why are you my heart?" She ended the call.

"Is this Diane in her right senses, why should Knucklehead be her heart?" She complained and the bedroom door opened and Steven came in. He paused with the sight before him.

Dua sat in bed, putting on a purple silk night gown that stopped on her knees, showcasing her milky skin. Her face featured a pair of thin eyebrows, a pair of amazingly long lashes, a pair of almond shaped hazel eyes, a pointed nose, and small thin red lips. Her long black hair fell to one side of her shoulder, and her straight milky legs were crossed over the blanket.

Dua blinked at him, wondering what was going on with him, then Steven recollected himself too and gave her a stern look. "What was the meaning of that?"

"What was the meaning of what?" She asked.

"The call," he said.

"Oh, the call. Nevermind that," she smiled and Steven scoffed.

He turned to leave, but turned again to her. "Are you doing all this to get my attention?" He said and she spat on the floor, making his eyes widen.

"Trying to get your attention my foot?" She scoffed. "Why would I do that? What will I gain if I get your attention?"

"Let's hope that isn't the case, because you'll never get my attention," he smirked and left the bedroom.

"Trying to get his attention," she laughed. "This guy thinks so highly of himself. And what was that look in his eyes for me earlier?"

She quickly got out of bed to her wardrobe, and took out a long jacket and wore it on, completely covering herself. "This is better," she was satisfied with her new look and then her phone rang. She looked at the screen flashing a name, "Mark."

"...I'm your elder brother and the only sibling you have, Mark Sierre." She recalled. "He's Diane's brother," she said to herself and answered the call.

"Hey, little sis, how are you?" Mark's voice was cheerful.

"I'm good," Dua replied.

"So have you done your assignment?" He asked.

"What assignment?" Dua was clueless.

"Come on, Di, the assignment dad asked you to carry out on your wedding night," he said and she recalled it.

Flashbacks.

Bob stood up and walked to her and gave her a small bottle, "make sure you do your assignment tonight." Then he left.

She hung up on Mark and ran downstairs to the living room, searched the couches and found the small bottle Bob had given her. She opened the bottle and smelled the content, and it smelled like poison. "This is poison, and if I'm right, the assignment is to kill Steven, but why?" She thought.
