bride farm

He removed his hands from me aggressively, shoving me to the side. “get the fuck out of my side and get me Lauretta” I did not wait another second as I got to my feet as soon as possible.

“I can’t believe the master chose her for the yearly ritual” I heard one of the maids say as I passed by the main quarters. I stopped, the angle which I stood made it difficult for them to see me from where they stood.

“I know right??!!! I really thought it was going to be Lauretta, seeing as he made her the head maid the last time he was here. gosh!!! That must have been so embarrassing for her” another voice came from the room

“especially for the fact that the Advika girl is nowhere as pretty. If you ask me, he just wants her for a quick fuck, Lauretta is still what he is after” they giggled walking pass to do lord knows what, leaving me alone.

I felt my stomach drop.

What did they mean by that?

Thoughts were swirling, making it difficult to pinpoint what it was that made me feel this unsettled.

I shook my head, going to look for Lauretta as instructed.

“I should be me!!!!” I heard someone yell as I made my way back to the master’s room to let him know that I did not see her.

“you are getting on my last nerve Lauretta, I said, leave” it was the master and just like before, he sounded like he was holding back emotions.

“forgive me my lord….” She said, her voice sounding like she had run a marathon. “but no. I would not leave” I angled myself properly to get a better view of what was going on.

I probably should not have done that, heck I should have been running to the other side of the castle as soon as I found out that she was there with the master but my stupid curious mind did not seem to understand that eavesdropping was dangerous.

“I am warning you...” he said again, his voice sounding much colder than before if that was even possible.

“but you kissed me!!! Two years ago at the ball for the Harvest!! You made your intentions before everyone known that you were going to choose me!!!!” I could not tell if she was angry or just close to tears. I was kind of surprised. From the rumors I had heard about him, he did not seem like the type you could talk to anyhow and get away with just like that “I would not let you embarrass me this way because of some cheap…”

It grew silent for a while before choking sound could be heard. “I believe I have grown too lenient” his voice was drowned by more choking sounds before a snap could be heard through the room, then….

Silence

I took in a deep breath, contemplating if it was best to leave while I still could or if stay a little while longer.

“you know, you could have done a better job at hiding” his voice came from the other side, startling me. I felt cold sweat breakout on my forehead.

“come In, maid” his voice came again, causing my heart to race from fear “I am already in a bad mood, don’t make me say it twice” just like that, my feet started to move towards him like they had a mind of their own.

“good” he said, giving me a smirk as he saw me. I tried as much as possible to keep a straight face to the pool of blood alongside the headless body that lay in the pool of blood.

“make yourself comfortable” he said, pouring a bit of wine into two glasses.

I nodded, standing in my spot. It took a lot for me to not look to the body and throw up. ‘make yourself comfortable he said’ I thought, focusing my gaze on one part of the bed.

“what is your name?” he asked, bringing the glass to his lips to take a sip.

“Advika.. I am Advika sire.” I said, taking a step to the side to create a bit of distance between.

“I am Jeremiah” he said, for the briefest of seconds, a shiver ran down my spine. I nodded, not really knowing what to say to him.

He stood, taking a step towards me with something in his hands, the lightening of the room was too poor that I could barely see what it was.

“you are to going to be my wife and I suggest you get into that role as quickly as possible” he said, taking predatory steps my way, causing me to take several steps back till my back met the wall.

“here, your wedding gift” he said, shoving something that felt warm into my hands…

I looked down to look at it, my heart racing as I did.

It was… I took in a deep breath which did not seem to be the wisest thing as the stench of blood hit me.

There was no denying it, no matter how much I wanted to.

I was holding a head. The head of Lauretta.

The one whose body laid cold on the floor.

I felt the whole world spin around me before everything turned black…

**Monster

A groan escaped my lips as i tried my best to open my eyes. “good thing you are awake” his voice greeted me as i opened my eyes fully to see the man that sat across me.

“i was starting to think the goddess had given me a weak bride” he said, again pouring more wine into a cup.

The more i looked at it, the more the wine seemed weird. There were no bubbles and the wine seemed a bit too thick. “do you want to try it?” he said looking at me with a smile.

Nothing about the smile seemed genuine. It seemed like he was ready to rip my head from my body. “no.. thanks” i said, my voice coming out a little bit bolder than necessary.

“fine then, your loss” he said, smiling at me. “so… Advika” the way he said my name caused shivers down my spine. It sounded like a warnig “do you have any wish for your birthday?” he said, looking at me with keen eyes.

I shook my head no.

“really? The thought have never crossed your mind to escape from here? To leave? To get revenge on your family?” he said looking at me like he could hardly believe that i did not want any revenge

I shook my head no. “i have nothing to go back to” i said, a little bit of defeat in my voice “and i am treated well here, why would i escape a place that treats me well?” although at the moment, i was not sure i wanted to stay anymore.

I shivered, the memory of holding Lauretta’s severed head flashing through my mind

“hmm” he said, a look of amusement on his face “would you still have those thoughts if you knew exactly where this was?”

“we are in an old castle my lord” i said, hopping he would drop it there. Ignorance they said was bliss and i wanted to continue to live this routined life with nothing to worry about but of course he had other plans.

“of course we are” he said, leaning back in his chair. “but do you know that this old castle is actually a farm? A bridal farm if you might say” he said, speaking without a care in the world.

meanwhile, i felt my heart racing
