Chapter~4 The basketball team

Next morning

MIA POV

I woke up earlier than usual today. It's still 5:12 am. I really don't know why I am feeling uneasy. After meeting him after 3 years—those 3 years weren't as simple as they seemed. Although I do sometimes visit a room where I have kept all the memories with him, be they good or bad. I just designed it the way that was JUST MEANT FOR ME—our pictures, lovely or hurtful notes, everything. Every precious moment we spent together. I guess I will go today again. I built up my courage and made my way toward the room.

Only me—just I—am allowed to enter. He and I were just perfect. Everyone used to say they would believe in love as long as Aksh and I were in a relationship. Haha, even I lost trust in love.

I wish I could hold his hand the way we used to, hug him, kiss him, and make everything normal again. But then I remember his words, "Mia, enough, ya, don't irritate me."

"Mia, just leave me alone."

"Mia, leave my life."

"I don't love you anymore."

Right after that, I left the room. Entering my room, I decided to get ready and leave for the Uni. If I were early, I would just spend my time at the library reading books. I don't care whether Ani comes with me or not.

When I was about to leave, Mom and Dad called me, saying they wanted to have a word with me.

Mr. Ahuja: So, you're 19 already.

"Yeah, so what?"

Mr. Ahuja: Next month, you're having your birthday, and you will officially be 20, and I'll officially announce you as the CEO of the company. And two weeks from today, you'll start working on your first project. I'll be there to guide you every step of the way.

"But isn't this position meant for Ani? I mean, he's your child before me."

Mrs. Ahuja: Ani is adopted too. We never had biological kids. In all the documentation, we have given your name for the future CEO post. I know it's early for you, but we have decided that you're not going for a master's. Even your bachelor's degree will end after 2 years. In the meantime, you'll have to handle the company as well as your studies.

"Fine. I am okay with it. But I am absolutely not comfortable with that PA of yours. Neither will I allow bodyguards assigned by you."

Mr. Ahuja: It's fine. Assigning a PA is as per your wish, and about the bodyguard—talk to us; we'll check the background and then approve. Otherwise, it's a big NO.

"Alright, may I leave now?"

Mrs. Ahuja: Sure, sweety. Have a good day.

As said, I reached the Uni early. I made my way straight to the library. I am obsessed with romance novels—or you can say DARK ROMANCED NOVELS. I was reading so attentively that I didn't realize when Rishabh came and said, "Hey! Not gonna attend classes?"

I jolted at first but then replied, "Oh, hi! Is it that time? Maybe I'm too late. Thanks for reminding me."

On my way to the class, I met Vivaan.

"Oye, listen. You're gonna stay back today at any cost. We have to win the trophy at the basketball match, no matter what. We will start practice from today onward. And please, no tantrums, Miu. You know we have to build the best team," he said in such a hurry as if he was going to miss his train.

"Alright, fine. I'm free today," I smiled at him and went to my class, knowing there would be another drama as well.

Just like yesterday, I sat beside Rishabh. He and I talk a lot and got to know so much about each other within a day. Before the professor arrived, Yashika turned toward us.

"Tsk tsk, look at that—the ugly couple match," she mocked.

"Be in your limits, Yashika, or it won't take me a second to cut off your tongue. Poor Yashika won't be able to talk afterward," I said with a powerful smirk, knowing she can't get the authorities to suspend me—but I can.

My brother turned toward me, saying, "Look who's talking. Fighting for that slum dweller. Looks like she fell in love with some poor, schooled boy." Saying this, he started laughing.

I felt pity for him because, as the younger child, he still won't get any position in the company as per the documents. What will happen when he finds out about this? I chuckled to myself.

It was recess time. I was lost in my own thoughts about what Dad told me in the morning. Maybe I will soon have a hectic schedule. Vivaan came and sat beside me. Seeing my dull face, he asked, "What happened, Miu? Did anyone say anything to you?"

"It's not like that. It's just..." I told him what Dad said today.

"I am really going to face a hectic schedule, as far as I can imagine," I said softly.

"It's alright. But look how much your parents trust you—the whole company is under your name," he said, trying to lighten my mood.

"They don't trust me, Vivaan. They love money. They know they can't give Ani the whole control of the company because he's such a prodigal. But I have a creative and alert personality, which will help them make more money," I said and made my way toward my class as the bell rang.

The rest of the day went totally boring until it was time for basketball practice.

I changed into a comfy sports outfit and made my way to the basketball court.

I turned my eyes around, as I wasn't able to find him. "Isn't he a part of the basketball team? But I saw him playing yesterday."

Shrugging off my thoughts, I started with some basics, as it had been some time since I played.

After a light warmup, I could see a group of students cheering for us.

"Isn't that Mia?"

"Omg, she's the daughter of the owners here."

"My god, she's so beautiful."

"C'mon, Mia!"

I could hear these cheers from all around me. I never knew I was this famous. I generally prefer staying at home. As I was thinking, suddenly a huge crowd of girls started screaming,

"Rudraksh, Rudraksh!"

I could hear these screams from the whole crowd. When I turned, I finally saw him. He still looked damn perfect.

"What are you even thinking, Mia? Stop it."

Soon, I saw him making his way toward me. My eyes widened.
