Chapter 6

The phone call ended abruptly, and Lawrence's face darkened instantly.

He knew it.

Emily was in such a rush to divorce him and had the audacity to disappear right under his nose. Turns out, she had already found herself a new protector.

They weren't even divorced yet, and she dared to openly leave with another man. Did she think he was dead?

Thinking about how Emily left last night dressed like that and hadn't returned, a fire of anger ignited in Lawrence's chest, growing stronger by the second.

He glanced back at their house, grabbed his coat, and strode out.

He was going to find out exactly what Emily was up to behind his back.

Divorce?

Not if he had anything to say about it.

Just as he got into his car, his phone rang. It was his friend, Raymond Carter.

Lawrence answered, his voice icy, "What is it?"

Raymond hesitated, unable to contain his curiosity. "So, I heard you rented out a hotel last night for Olivia's birthday, and Emily caught you red-handed. She was so mad she even pulled out the divorce papers. Is that true?"

Lawrence frowned sharply. "You called just to ask that?"

Sensing he was about to be hung up on, Raymond quickly got to the point. "Don't you want to know where Emily is?"

"You know?" Lawrence's eyes narrowed.

"Not just me, everyone in our circle knows."

Raymond's tone was smug. "Last night, a young, beautiful, wealthy woman was online looking for a high-quality man. Her requirements were that he had to be taller, more handsome, and younger than you. Basically, better than you in every way..."

"Think about it, who else but Emily would dare to do something like that?"

Lawrence's temple throbbed. "She really said that?"

"Absolutely. She offered a hundred million dollars. Who else in Emerald City has that kind of guts? I heard she found a guy who met her criteria and took him to the Starlight Grand Hotel. By now, they're probably..."

Before Raymond could finish, Lawrence hung up, his face dark. He floored the gas pedal and sped towards the hotel.

Meanwhile, at the top floor of the hotel.

Emily was suddenly embraced from behind, pressed against the large floor-to-ceiling window.

The man had just come out of the shower, water droplets still clinging to his well-defined body, eventually soaking into the towel around his waist.

Emily turned around, momentarily blinded by the man's impressive physique. Her delicate hands caressed his strong arms.

She couldn't help but marvel.

This body, this face, compared to Lawrence's cold demeanor, was so much easier to obtain.

Thinking about the three years she spent in the Parker family, Emily felt she had been shortchanged.

That man never even looked at her, and she still tried to get close to him.

Without Lawrence, she could find any man she wanted.

Why should she put up with his nonsense?

"Baby, do you like my body?" The man took Emily's hand and guided it over his chest, his deep voice seductive.

From his chest to his abs, moving downward.

Emily's hand felt like it was on fire. She slowly lifted her hand and hooked it under the man's chin. "Of course I do. As long as you help me, I'll give you anything you want."

"Really? Then let's..."

The man leaned in to kiss her.

A loud noise interrupted them, the door slamming against the wall.

Before Emily could react, two rows of men in black suits stormed in, pinning the man to the ground.

The man instinctively resisted, but the men in black pulled out weapons.

Seeing that someone might get hurt, Emily stepped forward and coldly ordered, "What are you doing? Let him go!"

"Who dares to let him go?"

A cold, authoritative voice came from the doorway. Emily looked up to see Lawrence standing there, his face grim.

Dressed in a black suit, he exuded an intimidating presence, his aura murderous.

Emily suddenly understood. She grabbed a coat and draped it over herself, taking a few steps forward.

"Lawrence, this is a hotel. Who gave you the right to barge into my room? Let him go!"

"Let him go?"

Lawrence's voice was icy, his gaze sweeping over the half-naked man on the floor with a menacing intensity.

"He dared to touch my woman. Do you think I'll let him go?"

Emily didn't want to argue with him, her tone mocking. "You should have received the divorce papers by now, Lawrence. Isn't it ridiculous to play the loving husband now?"

Lawrence didn't respond.

His sharp eyes took in her exposed legs, then scanned the bed, finally resting on her red lips, confirming nothing had happened.

Only then did he enter the room.

The hotel had shares owned by Lawrence, and knowing he was there, the hotel's management was in a panic.

They all showed up, but seeing the scene, they quickly retreated to the hallway, afraid to get involved.

Lawrence walked over to the man pinned on the ground, his voice chilling. "Where did you touch her?"

The man had heard their conversation, but the hundred million dollars Emily offered was too much to pass up, something he could never have imagined in his lifetime.

He swallowed hard. "You two are divorced. We're free to do whatever we want..."

"Free? Let's see if your life is more important than your freedom."

Lawrence stomped on the man's wrist, a sickening crack echoing through the room. The man's face turned pale, drenched in cold sweat, unable to even scream.

Emily hadn't expected Lawrence to go this far. "Lawrence, what are you doing? Who gave you the right to hurt him?"

Before she could get closer, she was scooped up and slammed into Lawrence's chest.

The coat slipped, revealing her sexy camisole and smooth skin.

Lawrence's eyes darkened.

Was this how she had been with that man?

Emily saw his gaze and was furious. She started hitting him. "You lunatic, let me go!"

"And then what? Let you go find another man?"

Lawrence easily caught her hands, his eyes filled with disdain and mockery. "Emily, you want a man so badly that you'd settle for someone who'd do anything for money?"

Emily lifted her head, her face defiant. "So what? At least he's clean, has a great body, and knows how to please me. Can you do that?"

Her words hit Lawrence hard. He glanced at the man on the floor and ordered, "Take him out and cripple him."

The men obeyed, quickly dragging the man out.

"Lawrence, you can't hurt him. He's mine!"

She had paid for him. How could Lawrence just take him away?

"Yours?"

Lawrence's aura was oppressive. He grabbed her wrist with one hand and loosened his tie with the other, pushing her onto the bed.

He lifted her chin. "Emily, I haven't signed the divorce papers yet, and you're already cheating on me. Do you think the court will give you a single cent if I report this?"
