Chapter 7 Awakened Wolf
I tore through my room in a panic, my hands trembling as I dumped the contents of my bag onto the bed. Clothes, notebooks, makeup—everything scattered across the sheets, but the orange pill bottle was nowhere to be found.
"It should be in my bag," I muttered, my heartbeat accelerating with each passing second. Without those pills, my wolf would wake up. Mom had always made that consequence crystal clear.
I needed to call her. My fingers instinctively reached for my phone, but it wasn't on the nightstand where I'd left it.
"Wait, I put it near my pillow last night." I frantically searched under the pillows, throwing them to the floor. Nothing.
My chest tightened as anxiety clawed at my insides. Two of my most important possessions had vanished simultaneously. This couldn't be a coincidence. Cold sweat beaded on my forehead as the implications sank in—without my medication, she would come. The seductress wolf inside me would awaken.
"Looking for these?"
Lucas's voice made me freeze. I turned to find him leaning against my doorframe, dangling my phone in one hand and my orange pill bottle in the other. His smile was all predator.
"What are you doing with my stuff?" I tried to sound casual, but my voice betrayed me with a slight tremor.
He tossed my phone onto the bed but kept the pills. "Your mom kept reminding you to take these. Made me curious." His blue eyes sparkled with mischief. "What happens if you skip them for a day?"
I forced an awkward smile, inching toward him. "I need those pills."
Lucas held up his hand, stopping me in my tracks. "But why?" He shook the bottle, the pills rattling inside. "What did your wolf do that's so terrible she needs to be imprisoned inside you?"
His questions hit too close to the truth. I remained silent, watching him play with the bottle that controlled my existence.
"And who is this person you're afraid will come for you in your nightmares?" When I didn't answer, he shrugged. "Fine, don't tell me. I guess we'll find out when he knocks today, because you're not getting your medicine."
He walked out, leaving me frozen in place.
Unfortunately, I had to hide my scent or else—
I had a feeling this day was going to get messier now that I'm all alone with my handsome stepbrother.
Two hours later, I stood by the window, clearing my throat repeatedly as the medication's effects began to fade. My heartbeat quickened, and I could feel something stirring inside me.
Please don't come out, seductress! I mentally begged my wolf. The strange sensation of my potential Luna wolf trying to take control was terrifying yet somehow exhilarating. My silver-blonde hair started to shimmer subtly, and my eyes grew increasingly bright.
Without knocking, I burst into Lucas's room. He was hunched over something on his bed and looked up, clearly annoyed at the interruption.
"What the fuck? Do you always barge into people's rooms like this?" He was shirtless and doing something in a hurry. I couldn't see it clearly because my vision was turning blurry at this point.
"My pills!" I requested with heavy breathing, tears appearing on the surface of my eyes.
"You want your medicine?" He asked while zipping up the bag and pushing it under his bed. I didn't know what he hid in that black bag, and neither did I care at the moment.
"Yes! Please!" I clutched my chest, my throat burning with thirst.
Lucas grabbed my wrist and pulled me into his room, slamming the door shut. He pushed me against the wall, his eyes scanning me up and down. "If I help you, what do I get in return?"
I was desperate, willing to agree to anything. "Whatever you want! I just need my pills."
His gaze lingered on my chest as it rose and fell with each labored breath. "I'll be generous, even though you made Ethan look bad in front of my father."
'M—–!'
My wolf was waking up, and it was frightening enough for me to want Lucas to do whatever he wanted in order to give me my pills.
"How about this—you strip naked, and I'll invite Noah over to take some exciting photos?" His voice turned darker as he suggested a cursed idea. They knew I hid the truth from my mother. He wanted me to look bad in front of my mother just the way Ethan looked bad in front of his father. But did he not know my mate had rejected me already?
"Don't worry. I'll show them to your mother, but I won't share them at Northwest Bay High." He placed his hand on my stomach, waiting for my reaction. I didn't stop him. Little did he know, he was getting himself into trouble by getting so close to me.
"Want me to help you undress?" As he questioned, his hand had already begun the job. He ran it over my stomach, lifting the fabric up while his hand rested on my boob. I know he was not serious and was just trying to mock me, but I wasn't scared of him.
"Soft," he had a smirk on his face when he tried to grope my boob. But his words were cut short when my wolf woke up.
'Mate!'
She said it loud and clear, connecting with his wolf.
We locked eyes in shock. Lucas jerked back as if burned. "What?!" He released me instantly. "She's my sister!"
'Mate!' Our wolves called again in unison.
"You're my fucking stepsister!" he yelled, but I could only stare back, goosebumps covering my skin. My eyes had turned pure silver, glowing with unnatural light.
As if it wasn't bad enough, an audio message played on his laptop's screen.
"Hey, son! Just wanted to let you know I still love you, my children. Don't think your father doesn't care about you. I sent you a new toy. Enjoy it. But share with your brothers, as you share everything."
I widened my eyes at Lord Richard Blackwood's message, meeting Lucas's stunned gaze.
I then remembered that the brothers loved sharing whatever one of them gets.
