Chapter 4

“What!!!!” He sked his eyes shockingly.

“You know what I said and I'm not repeating it,” Mr Everest said.

“You can't expect me to marry a total stranger,” he said.

“ So now she's a stranger, you don't know that when you slept with her,” his dad said.

“See dad, I'm confused, I can't marry her,” he said again.

“I don't go back on my word and you know it Noah Everest,” his dad said calmly.

“I've a girlfriend dad, how is she gonna react to this, she's gonna be mad,” Noah said.

“Do I look like I care about that? If you know that your girlfriend is going to be mad, then why did you still sleep with another girl?” His dad asked.

“Dad, I don't know what's wrong with me, you know I stopped flirting around the moment I have Emily, I think this is set up, please dad just listen,” Noah begged.

“I know, but did all these people know, look at what they were saying about me,” Mr Everest said and carried his phone.

“ If it's about these rumors, it will go down in about a month and people will forget about it,” Noah said.

“Okay,” his dad said.

“Does that mean I don't have to marry her again?” Noah asked.

“Yeah,” his dad muttered.

“Thanks Dad,” he said.

“You might as well just forget your position as the CEO of my company, I know Nicholas would be happy to take the position,” his father said and everywhere became silent.

“I guess you aren't taking no for an answer then,” Noah mutters.

“Yeah, so it is either you marry her, or forget the company,” his dad said before going to his seat to resume his reading.

Noah walked out of the room with miss feelings. He was walking slowly through the corridor until a loud scream distracted him, he ran towards the scream and saw Jasmine, his fiancee dragging Emily, his daughter, who was trying to release herself with force.

“What's going on?” He asked and Jasmine released her.

“ Why are you acting like you don't know she is a pretender? I was trying to be nice to her but she was screaming like a witch,” Jasmine said while rolling her eyes.

Noah warned her not to address his daughter as a witch. He looked at Emily whose tears were rushing out of her face already.

Emily ran out immediately and Noah tried to get her attention. Noah called after her but she ignored him.

“That girl is so dramatic, just an ordinary handshake, you'll think I'm stabbing her,” Jasmine scoffed.

Noah was looking at her when she was busy murmuring to herself.

“ Why did you even think I have a relationship with you, it was because of her, I want her to feel the affection of a mother but you are not giving her any of that, instead you made her cry,” Noah said.

“I'm trying my best, though I hate kids so much, I'm still tolerating her, didn't I try ?” She snapped.

“Tolerating my kid?” He asked with a frown, he was getting angry.

“Don't make this talk about me, I actually came for another reason, so what is the news that I was hearing about you sleeping with some bitches?” She asked.

“You shouldn't insult her, she's not a bitch,” Noah said.

“Interesting , now you are even defending her,” she yelled angrily.

“Pull yourself together and stop yelling,” Noah said.

“Wow now I'm yelling, must I face a lot of things because I am dating you? First it was your kid and now it's a lady,” she said angrily.

“If you are having problems with dating me because of my kids, you can kindly go, not like I'm holding you back,” Noah said and started going but she quickly held his hand.

Jasmine asked him what the news was all about, that if he really cheats on her.

“ I'm gonna tell you. Now you know why I've been avoiding you. I know my quietness isn't fair to you, I'm confused and trying to sort out things,” Noah speaks without remorse.

Jasmine lost her temper and hit Noah hard on the chest as retreated and apologized for his actions

She was trying to control her anger but he muttered before walking away. She stood at her spot while watching his back till he was out of the mansion. She scoffed angrily and carried her bag before leaving.

“I've done nothing but love you wholeheartedly. Is this how you chose to repay the two years we've been together? You haven't even called or texted in days. Because of that bitch? Why is lying so cruel to me ? Why am I being treated unjustly? What crime have I committed? I can't bear the pain anymore,”

She questioned rhetorically as her words echoed back to her ear. As she bemoaned,her father kept calling on the phone repeatedly, but she ignored his calls. She was confused and devastated

As she walked out the mansion, an ocean of tears replenished her eyes.

She tried to hide the despair hoarding her face, but she couldn't.

All her efforts to get Noah's attention proved abortive.

“I can't allow this fucking marriage to happen, as long as I'm alive, I am gonna stop this marriage from happening,” she mutters as she walked out of the mansion.

EVEREST GROUP OF COMPANY

Noah noticed how his workers were looking at him as he walked into the company, some even have the guts to be whispering in front of him, he didn't blame them anyway, he was sure the news would be everywhere by now.

He used the elevator to get to his office, and his secretary quickly adjusted her dress when she saw him.

“Mr Everest,” she called and asked him to walk past her.

“What is it?” He asked frustratedly.

“You've a visitor, Mr Nicholas is here.”

Noah didn't say anything and e just walked into his office, he met Nicholas sitting in his seat, his legs on the table.

“What are you doing here?” He asked angrily.

“Oh brother, you are here,” Nicholas said and stood up

“What are you doing in my office?” He asked again

“Calm down brother, who knows it may no longer be your office, you know what I mean right, but don't worry I'm a nice person so I might just appoint you as my secretary or PA,” Nicholas said with a smirk

“You will never sit in this position and point of corrections, call me step brother,” Noah said and pushed him with his shoulder before sitting on his seat.

“Then let's wait and watch, for now step brother,” Nicholas said before walking out of the office.

Noah sighs his father's word ring in his ear, he'll never allow Nicholas to take his position, that will be like failing his ill mom, he promised her her so he can't fail it. He picks up his phone and dial a number.

“Look for a lady with the name Adelaide Salvatore!!!” He ordered immediately the person picked the call.

“Okay sir,” the person replied.

“I want the results in an hour!!!” He ordered again before hanging up.

He drops the phone and ruffles his hair.
