Chapter 11
"Who?" Jerome asked standing up with Damian.
Damian pointed at the door.
"Someone came in here!" He stated.
Jerome smiled and sat back down.
"That was probably Alessia," He said with a smile.
Damian sat down slowly.
"Alessia? She came in and just ran off like that" He said.
"Don't worry about it. Alessia doesn't like interrupting me when I'm discussing business and that's why she probably left" Jerome cleared up.
'Zander you felt it too right... Nalda's somewhere close' Damian said in his head.
Jerome went through the papers in his hands and nodded to the agreements on the document.
"You want a six months contract? Why six months? We could actually do it for a year?" Jerome asked.
Damian wore a blank expression.
"Take a chill pill. This business ain't charity so let's stick to the original plan. You'll be recruiting nurses from my pack and in return I'll supply you with financial resources. I heard you're in log ahead with Sparrow pack, need any support with that?" Damian asked crossing his leg against the other.
Jerome looked at him suspiciously.
"You're suddenly being nice. You sounded way too strict with business over the phone, I had no idea you would be this generous" He said and Damian scoffed.
"Nothing's free and talking about that, I've got a question for you though... Do you have kids?" Damian asked curiously.
Jerome looked at him a bit shocked at where that question was coming from.
"Why do you ask? That doesn't sound like business talk to me!" He responded.
Damian shook his head as he inhaled sharply.
"I thought of joining forces with you to fight again Sparrow pack cos of your daughter... I thought you had a daughter!" Damian said in a low tone.
Jerome swallowed hard as much as Damian's offer sounded tempting to him. He didn't want to lie about anything.
"What daughter? What's her name?" He asked.
Damian looked at him suspiciously. He hesitated before answering.
"Are you asking me cos you have one or cos you know of one?" Damian threw a tricky question at him.
Jerome looked away. He didn't want to give Damian the wrong answer cos of his offer but on second thought, Aila was like a daughter to him.
"I was asking cos I have one!"
Damian wore a half smile.
"Is her name Aila?" He asked.
Jerome was stunned but he nodded.
"You know Aila?" Jerome asked.
"She's a fun girl. We met at her school trip back at my pack. I enjoyed talking to her!" Damian stated grinning from ear to ear.
Jerome noticed the wide grin on Damian's lips.
He knew it was now or never to strike the deal with Damian.
"Aila is a carefree child. I watched her grow before my eyes and it fascinates me every moment when I stare at her and see how much she's grown!" Jerome said with a smile staring at space.
Damian turned back at him.
"Reach out to me when you need help with Sparrow" He assured professionally then stood up.
Nalda ran back to her bedroom to hold her kids back in the room but to her greatest shock, neither of them was in the room.
"Aila..!"
"Aaron!"
Nalda called out and headed out of the room.
She was about to head to the staircase when she saw Damian coming out of Jerome's study with him.
She ran to a corner and hid as she peeped Damian from where he was standing.
Damian smiled at everything Jerome said concerning Aila.
"When she clocked four, she flipped up to show us she's a big girl now!" Jerome narrated and Damian laughed.
Nalda couldn't hear what they were discussing all her eyes were on Damian.
He hasn't changed one bit! She said in her head.
'He still got those beautiful eyes and smile' Celia complimented.
Damian turned to her direction and she hid herself immediately.
Nalda hid behind one of the biggest pillars as she watched Damian from there and she was also shocked to find the kids downstairs. Damian was also approaching their direction.
"Aila told me she has a twin brother! I was amazed by the thought of having double Aila at home! I couldn't wait to meet her brother" Damian said as they walked down the stairs.
Getting down to the sitting room.
"I am the alpha so you must respect me! I saved you from the hands of rogues attack and now you want your freedom, Aila ask for my forgiveness" Aaron said seated majestically on a couch.
"I am so very sorry, Alpha. It was selfish of me to ask for my freedom. Forgive me, alpha Aaron!" Aila uttered in a crying tone as she went on her knees bowing.
The kids were playing the pretend game just by themselves.
Damian froze up where he was standing. Hearing the kids utter words, he was likely to say to Nalda almost put tears in his eyes.
"Alpha Damian!" Jerome called out seeing how he stood at one spot.
Damian looked away and sniffed in his tears.
"Uncle Jerome!!" The kids called out jovially as they took off their display outfits.
Damian turned to him.
"Uncle?" He asked and Jerome smiled nervously.
He leaned towards Damian.
"It's not what you think! Their mum and I chose to keep things that way!" Jerome lied.
Aila laughed when she saw Damian.
She touched her brother.
"Aaron look, he's the man I saw at Moon Shadow Pack," Aila said excitedly.
"Wow, she recognizes you!" Jerome said with a smile.
Damian turned to the kids.
"Hello, Aila... Hello Aaron! What a surprise to meet the both of you here!" He said waving at them.
Nalda's eyes widened in shock.
Damian have seen them before? When? She gasped in her head anxiously.
Aaron crossed his arms on his chest, staring at Damian from his head to his toes.
"Well, I told you, you can find me here! Are you friends with Uncle Jerome?" Aila asked.
Damian was about to respond to her question when he saw Aaron staring at him in a very savage way.
He bent over.
"Hello, little man! I loved your acting back there. You sounded like a real alpha yourself" Damian complimented to win some points with Aaron cos it seemed like Aaron found him suspicious.
Aaron smiled after getting a compliment from Damian.
"You're a nice man! What brings you to our pack though?" Aaron asked maturely.
Damian looked at Jerome in surprise.
These kids are smart. He said in his head.
"Well, I came to discuss business with your uncle Jerome and I also hoped to cross paths with the both of you. I'm glad I did!" Damian said with a smile.
Aila jumped into their conversation.
"Since you're here... How about the both of you be our audience? Aaron and I plan on acting in this play The Alpha and his Servant at the academy festival coming up" Aila said.
"Sure!" Damian and Jerome chorused.
They both took their seats to watch Aila and Aaron's act.
Damian sat there watching the kids and all he could think of was Nalda. He saw himself and Nalda in them.
He was so lost in thoughts that he had no idea when tears dropped from his eyes.
Aila squealed excitedly.
"Aaron, we did it. The storyline Mum gave us was the best, it made him cry!" Aila said with a smile.
Aaron high-fives her, grinning as well.
Jerome looked at Damian in disbelief. He never thought of Damian to be softhearted.
Damian wiped off his tears quickly and clapped with a wide smile.
"Wow, your acting moved me! Your mum's the best to give you such an amazing storyline. By the way, I can't find your mum around where's she?" Damian asked.
Jerome felt a bit jealous seeing how comfortable the kids were with Damian. He used to be the only one they spoke so freely with.
"Their mum's probably busy and that's why she isn't here," Jerome said and glanced at his wristwatch.
Damian saw what he was trying to do and he smirked in his head.
"Anyways, kids... I have to take my leave now. Hopefully, we see again soon" Damian said and winked at Aila.
Aila spread her arms so he would carry her.
"Goodbye, hugs..." She said brightly.
Damian smiled and carried her up in his arms, hugging her.
He shut his eyes as Aila patted his back. All he could feel at that moment was peace.
"I'm sorry we made you cry! But I'm happy how our story touched your heart!" Aila said softly.
"It sure did!" Damian said and brought her down.
Damian looked at Aaron who was reluctant to say goodbye.
"We just met, I was hoping you would stay longer so I can get to know you better. Sadly, that didn't happen. What's your name by the way?" Aaron asked.
Damian stretched his hand out.
"My name's Damian... You can also call me Uncle Damian, I don't mind!" He said jokingly.
Jerome looked at the kids curiously to see their reaction to Damian's words.
"Nah... more like Daddy!" The kids chorused and laughed.
Damian's eyes widened in shock.
Nalda lost her balance at the pillar hearing the kids say that.
WHAT!! She gushed in her head.
"Thank you for seeing me as a daddy figure but be careful with the words so you don't hurt your uncle Jerome with them," Damian said and Jerome laughed awkwardly.
The kids joined him.
"They're probably joking... Don't take it to heart!" Jerome said still laughing.
Linzy ran into the sitting room excitedly.
"Damian's here!" She squealed running towards him.
Aila frowned as Linzy joined them. She stood in front of Damian stopping Linzy from getting any closer.
Linzy stretches her hand out with a wide smile on her lips.
"Linzy! You must be Damian right?" She asked.
Damian smirked ignoring her gesture. He left her hand hanging in the air.
"It's nice meeting you but I was about leaving so excuse me!" Damian stated coldly.
Nalda burst into laughter from right up where she was standing.
They all turned in her direction but she hid again.
She covered her mouth, laughing at Linzy so hard.
Damian waved at the kids and then left.
Linzy hit Jerome lightly on his arm.
"You couldn't even introduce me to him. You stood there and watched him respond so coldly towards me!" Linzy whined feeling embarrassed about Damian approach.
Jerome rolled his eyes.
"Stop whining... you heard him yourself, he was about to leave. He wasn't in the mood to start up a conversation when he was about leaving so don't let it bother you okay!" Jerome stated.
Damian got to his car. Asher was waiting for him in the car already.
"So how was it? Did you discuss business well with him?" Asher asked and Damian nodded.
"It was nice sealing up the deal with him"
"So that means we're going back home right?" Asher asked.
Damian stared at him for a while.
"No... I've got unfinished business. We're sleeping over!" Damian said seriously.
HOURS LATER...
Nalda went shopping by herself to grab a few things Aaron was going to need for his school trip when she bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry!" She said bending over to pick up her things that fell on the floor.
"Here!" The voice echoed in her ears, it sent shivers down her spine.
She knew exactly whose voice that was.
She looked up at him and she froze.
Damian! She gasped in her head.
"How does it feel running away from me?" Damian's deep and domineering tone echoed in her ears.
