Chapter 4
Nalda opened her eyes slowly, her sight was still a bit blurry but Damian stood next to her.
"Nalda, can you hear me?" Damian's voice echoed in Nalda's ears.
She shut her eyes and opened them again, to make her vision more clearer. She noticed she was in Damian's mighty bedroom.
"Alpha..." She called out in a low tone and tried sitting up but Damian helped her.
Nalda ran her fingers through her hair to make it less messier than she thought it was.
A doctor was writing a report on Nalda's case when she woke up.
He quickly checked her pulse and smiled.
"She's fine now," the doctor said politely.
Damian sighed with relief.
He walked the doctor to the side.
"Are you sure, she's taken in? The implantation was a success then?" Damian asked calmly.
The doctor nodded proudly.
"It is a success. Congratulations, Alpha" He said giving out his hand for a handshake.
Damian received them with a half smile.
"My work here is done. She just needs to eat healthy and rest a lot to avoid any complications" the doctor instructed and left the room with his PA nurse.
Damian walked back to the bed, Nalda was lying on.
"What did the doctor say? Am I okay?" Nalda asked curiously.
Damian nodded sliding his hands into his pocket.
"He said you're pregnant. The implantation was a success" He informed.
Nalda's heart skipped a beat and her hands went down on her belly and she caressed it slowly.
'There is a child inside of me right now!' Nalda said in her head still not believing how magical recent technology is.
Nalda dropped out of high school after her parent's death so she's more like an illiterate when it comes to technological things like this.
"New rules..." Damian pursed.
Nalda looked at him to finish up his statement.
"You will be moving out of the maid's quarter and coming into the bedroom next to mine. You're not allowed to go out of your room or even call in your friends. No one's allowed to know you're pregnant with my child with Hazel. You are to stay out of reach from the outside world. Do you understand?" Damian asked coldly.
Every bit of word he said, broke Nalda's heart but to him, Nalda didn't have any right to be angry cos she belonged to him. She has always been ever since she stepped her foot into the pack house.
Nalda got out of the bed with a frown.
"And where do you think you're going? You haven't given any response yet" Damian stated.
Nalda looked at him with a blank expression.
"Do I need to say anything? My response is pretty obvious and I'm heading out to go get my stuff from my room" She said sarcastically about to walk away but Damian grabbed her hand.
He noticed how she spoke to him. Nalda has never spoken to him in that manner before. Is she suddenly being rebellious? Why?
Damian thought about tightening his grip on her wrist but he thought of the child she was carrying.
"I'm only letting you go for speaking to me in that tone cos of my child but I won't take it next time you speak to me like that and again you won't be needing anything from your old room cos everything you will need has been provided for you. Just go in there and meditate on how to be a good carry of my child!" Damian said seriously letting go of Nalda's hand.
Nalda walked out of the room with a frown.
"What would I be doing for the next nine months? Eat, sleep, and wake up. I never knew the Alpha hated me this much. Did my freedom cost this much? I shouldn't have said anything to Sophia in the first place. I'm in the mess cos they tried to help me" Nalda uttered almost breaking into tears as she walked into the furnished bedroom which literally had anything she could ever ask for.
It was more like the whole of the pack house in there. She had a separate kitchen, sitting room, and bedroom.
Nalda walked to the couch and sat on it then tears rolled down her cheeks.
'I don't deserve any of this. Hazel doesn't deserve you! She's evil' she said in her head with her hands on her belly.
LATER THAT DAY...
ELDER'S GATHERING HALL...
Damian and Hazel arrived there on their separate rides. All the elders of the pack were present.
Damian threw a bit of a party for them. Drinks and so many delicacies were served before them.
Damian raised his glass of wine.
"I bet you're all wondering what this occasion is all about. No need to be anxious or nervous. It's for a good cause" He said with a smile.
Asher sat at the other end of the table with a frown. Ever since the implantation, Asher has been quite sensitive towards Damian and he has refused to admit to Damian's words concerning him having feelings for Nalda.
"Hon, please come stand next to me," Damian said stretching his hand to help Hazel up from her chair.
"Thank you," She said softly as she stood up and stood next to Damian.
"Well... Hazel and I are expecting!" He announced and all the elders clapped merrily.
They smiled joyfully.
"Congratulations to the alpha and his Luna" The elders chorused.
Asher picked up his glass of wine and gulped it down angrily.
'Asher, what are you doing? Put a smile on. Do you wish to tell the elders, my announcement is false' Damian telepathed with Asher.
Asher looked at him and wore a smile.
'Happy now!' He replied.
They both exchanged messages through their minds.
"Congratulations Alpha! What a great news. We finally got the news we've been hoping to hear for the past four years" Asher said standing up from his chair as he faked a smile.
A call came in through Hazel's phone and he got the attention of Damian cos it was vibrating on her hand.
"It's okay, hon. Take it your call. I'm done with the announcement anyway" Damian said and pecked her cheeks.
Hazel smiled nervously and ended the call.
"It's not important. I can just call back some other time. This is an important moment for the both of us" She said forcing a smile on.
Damian wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"Let's cheer to that," He said raising his glass.
All the elders raised their glasses as well.
"Wishing the Luna a safe delivery!" They chorused and clicked their glasses.
Hazel's phone started ringing again.
She looked up at Damian with an anxious smile.
"Excuse me, honey. I think it's important. I'll go take it outside. Sorry!" She said acting cute and she peeked at Damian before leaving.
Damian sipped on his wine looking at her suspiciously. He made eye contact with Asher and signaled him to go eavesdrop on Hazel.
Asher nodded and left the table.
Hazel ran out of the hall to the hallway with her heels on.
She hid in a corner before taking the call. August was the one calling.
"Hello, why are you calling? Have you forgotten what today is? For f*ck sake, I'm at the elder's gathering hall. What if someone hears me talking to you?" Hazel whisper frustratedly.
" Hazel, don't act smart with me. You know the exact reason why I'm calling you so you better get into your car and drive back to the pack house cos you and I got serious business to discuss and don't even think about keeping me waiting!" August said and hung up.
Hazel glared at her phone and groaned.
"You always make things difficult for me" She grunted and sent Damian a text message.
(I'm sorry honey, but I have to rush back home to say hello to Cynthia. She was the one calling and she was waiting for me. I'll be right back after seeing her)
Hazel took out her car keys from her little pouch purse and ran to the parking lot.
Asher glued himself on a corner as he eavesdropped on every single word she said and watched her run to her car so desperately.
He went back to the hall to report to Damian.
"She texted me. She said Cynthia visited!" Damian said with an unsatisfied look on.
"That was definitely not Cynthia. Hazel and Cynthia have had beef for the past two years so why would Cynthia even bother visiting after what happened between them" Asher said and Damian bit his lower lips subconsciously.
"Get one of the workers at home to get that information clarified" Asher added and the only one who crossed Damian's mind was Nalda.
He must have been way too strict and cold to her but she's his most trusted maids cos of the history between them.
Damian moved to the side and placed a call across to Nalda but she wasn't picking up.
"What the heck is she doing? Why isn't she picking up?" Damian uttered frustratedly as he kept on dialing.
NALDA'S BEDROOM...
Nalda was having a blast in her room. She turned up the volume of the song she was listening to in the home theatre while she prepared dinner for herself.
That was the fifth time she was preparing something. Nalda was using food to stuff herself with boredom. She didn't even hear the landline ringing.
Minutes later... She was done so she headed down to the sitting room to eat but suddenly she began to crave some fresh fruit juice.
Nalda sneeked out of her room. She tiptoed along the hallway.
Getting to Hazel's bedroom door. Nalda noticed the door was slightly open just like the other day.
She thought about walking away but then she saw August's shadow.
Why's he here? I thought Alpha Damian and Hazel weren't home. Nalda questioned in her head and peeped through the door.
She saw Hazel and August in an argument.
"How could you do this to me, Hazel? I've warned you on so many occasions not to bear children with Damian. Couldn't you just do that for me? I thought love me. Don't you want us to be together anymore?" August fired.
"You need to relax. Everything's under control" Hazel said calmly.
"Under control? What the hell are you saying? That weak maid is currently pregnant with his child and you're telling me everything's under control? Damian is just a step away from having an heir and what do you think that means? He will be gaining more support from other packs if that happens and that will weaken my plans of overthrowing him!"
Nalda covered her mouth in shock. Hearing of August's true intentions towards Damian frightened her.
"So what do you suggest we do? It's late already. She's pregnant now! We can't undo it" Hazel said looking away.
August wore a malicious smile.
"She isn't just a weak maid anymore. She knows of our secret and might blow up any moment. She has become more of a threat to our plans, Hazel. You have to end her. She's of no good to you and me, what good is it to us that she bears a child for Damian. Just end her with one blow!" He said coldly, Hazel nodded to it and Nalda staggered backward in shock.
She held the wall for support as her legs felt weak.
'They... Want to kill me? She... They... Kill me' Nalda stuttered in her head as fear gripped her.
She ran back to her room and locked the door with a key.
Nalda ran to the bathroom and locked herself in there. Her hands were shivering in fear. Cold sweats popped out of her forehead.
She heard a knock on the door and Nalda slowly transitioned, her nails growing out into a claw.
