Chapter 9
Nalda started her engines again to drive off but she bumped into someone's car.
She tried to escape the run but then the owner of the car came out of her car. She was a beautiful damsel with clear skin when it came to comparing looks with Nalda, Nalda comes last.
Nalda was stunned at her looks.
The young lady who looked the same age as Nalda, stood in front of Nalda's car.
"Get down!" She ordered with her finger.
Nalda shut her eyes frustratedly. She knew this wasn't the time to quarrel with anyone. She has to go to Aila.
She got out of her car and walked to the lady.
"I'm sorry about the hit but I'm in a bit of a hurry can I compensate you if I caused any damages?" Nalda offered and the lady scoffed.
"Do you think I called you out cos of money? Money?" She repeated in a very arrogant tone.
"Then why did you call me out? Can you make it snappy, I have to rush off somewhere as you can see"
She inhaled sharply, glaring at Nalda.
"I was informed about alpha Damian arrival here today so tell me, is he here?" She asked.
Nalda gave her a rude glare.
"What do you take me for asking such a question? Even though I know the answer to that why should I tell you? Do I look like alpha Damian's assistant to you or what?" She asked.
The lady laughed.
"Assistant..." She laughed.
"Not even close, more like a maid!" She hissed and walked back to her car.
Nalda clenched her fist angrily.
"B*tch! Rude brat!" She grunted and got into her car glaring at the lady.
Nalda drove off angrily.
"Where on earth did she fall out from? How can one be so annoying? What does she take me for?" She groaned in the car.
"Should I just go back and give her a reply to what she said? How dare she call me a maid?" Nalda grunted as she drove.
On getting to Aila's school, she stepped on the brakes.
A thought crossed her mind and she smirked.
"Damian won't be showing up anymore. He might not even cross paths with Aila and so what if he does, he doesn't know she's his daughter. Nalda, you can chill okay" She uttered and sighed with relief.
I'll go back and watch the disappointed look on her face when she finds out Damian's not making it here today. Nalda said in her head with a smirk.
MOON SHADOW PACK...
The pack house...
Damian was swamped with work. He couldn't go with Asher cos it.
He went through so many documents and files.
He glanced at his cup of coffee and it was empty.
He groaned out tiredly.
Damian stood up from his chair to take his eyes off the screen and white sheets.
He looked out through the window with his hands in his pocket.
Someone knocked on his door.
"Come in" He responded.
Dre, Damian's gamma walked in.
"You didn't go with Asher? What would Alpha Jerome think of us? You should've gone at least" Dre protested.
Damian turned around rolling his eyes at him.
"If you're here to lecture me then go. I'm not in the mood for lectures. I've had enough already going through these documents concerning the pack's activities" Damian whined as he joined Dre on the couch.
Dre pouted himself a glass of water.
"Are you getting any petitions?" He asked.
Damian looked at him a bit confused.
"No. But why? Is something going on?" Damian asked.
"It's weird how no one's talking about your life without a Luna or an heir! Should I drop a petition myself?" Dre asked.
Damian chuckled.
"You've been away for years and here you are again, trying to go against me right after your arrival"
Dre sipped his water.
"There wouldn't be any need for me to do this if I had been around this whole time. What the hell has Asher been up to? I can't believe he left you this long without pushing you into getting a Luna and an heir or is there someone you're waiting for or you still can't forget about Hazel?" Dre asked.
Damian scoffed after clearing his throat.
"If someone else had asked me that question, they would have been dead by now but I'll let it slide cos of you. Hazel's dead to me, she made me lose something very precious to me! I'm never going to forgive her for that. The day I set my eyes on her again, that will be the day she takes her last breath" Damian said seriously.
Dre nodded.
"Asher told me about it. I can sense how grave her sins were but don't forget the fact that she's your mate. You have to reject her in person so you can move on with your life, except she isn't your true mate" Dre said looking at Damian.
Damian cleared his throat awkwardly as he stood up from the couch and walked to his desk.
"I don't feel like talking about any of that. I was unlucky with love, that's all I'll say" He said.
Dre stared at him suspiciously.
Asher was right after all. You knew Hazel wasn't your true mate. Dre said in his head.
Damian heard his thoughts but ignored him completely.
Nalda's earring fell from the table and he quickly picked it up, sliding it into his pocket.
'Everyone's getting suspicious of you and you're not making any progress on looking for her when you know Nalda didn't die that day. We never felt it!" Zander said and Damian turned to Dre to take his mind off it.
"I got a text message from the pack's academy principal. He said something about having visitors, they're kids visiting" Damian said.
"Emm... Yeah! I saw their bus heading into the academy when I came here. The kids were super excited to be here! I think this is their first trip leaving their pack" Dre said with a smile.
Damian glanced at his wristwatch.
"I just cleared up my schedule for the whole afternoon. Let's go look around at the academy, it's been a while since I saw kids" Damian cut in.
Dre looked at him a bit shocked.
"I can remember Asher telling me about how you stopped attending any special events at the academy for the past six years. You suddenly want to go there... Why? What's going on?" He asked.
Damian laughed.
"I'm bored and tired of working. It wouldn't be a bad idea to go look at the visitor kids right? I'll go change into something casual. I'm going there as a guest also not as the alpha, do I make myself clear?" He stated.
Dre nodded, concurring with his words.
"Anything you say, hurry up. The kids might be heading here soon" He said and Damian head to his bedroom.
Minutes later...
Damian and Dre arrived at the beautiful furbished academy.
Kids played around.
The principal of the academy ran to Damian the moment he got Dre's text about their arrival.
"Greetings alpha! But what do we owe this pleasant visit?" The principal asked and Damian whispered to Dre.
"Can you keep it down? The alpha doesn't want to alert anyone concerning his arrival. He's just here to relax and watch the kids, tell that to your teachers" Dre informed.
The principal bowed.
"I'll get right to it," he said and ran along.
"How rude, he couldn't even offer us a seat" Dre complained looking around for a comfortable office chair.
Damian hit him lightly on his back.
"It's a casual visit. What do you need a chair for? Anyway, I find this spot amazing. Get me a seat from the principal's office. I can have a full view of the students from her" Damian smiled.
Dre got him a chair from the principal's office.
Damian was about to sit down when he saw some kids fighting in the cafeteria.
"Are those kids fighting?" He asked.
Before Dre could give him a response to that. Damian swiftly walked to the cafeteria.
He was about to butt in when he saw Aila pushing the kid hard.
"It's my lunchbox so stay away from it" She yelled breathing heavily as she held her lunchbox underneath her arm.
Damian smiled.
"She's way too strong for her age" He stated still smiling.
The kids teacher came out of the washroom and ran to them.
"Why are you fighting?"
"Ma'am, Aila pushed me" The other kid said and burst into tears.
Aila furrowed her brows.
"But you tried to steal my lunchbox" she tried to defend.
"Aila, you promised to be a good girl. Why did you push your friend? What if she got hurt? Say sorry to Hannah" The teacher instructed.
Aila looked away with a frown.
Damian frowned at the situation.
"How wrong of the teacher to side with the wrong team?" Damian stated getting irritated by the teacher's approach.
"Don't get involved. She's the teacher, I bet she knows her students the best" Dre advised turning to the side but Damian went in already.
Damian stood in front of Aila.
"Teacher, you're doing this whole thing wrong. If she should be apologizing then the other kid should be apologizing as well. They were both wrong but don't side with one and make the other one feel terrible. You didn't even get to hear the whole story" Damian said seriously.
The teacher smirked.
"And who are you to butt in? They are my students and I know them best. Hannah's friends with Aila. They both eat their lunches together, Aila's just being stubborn today about eating together" The teacher explained.
" Even still... She's just a kid, don't make her grow up with such a mindset" Damian added and bent over to Aila.
"Aila is Hannah your friend?" Damian asked calmly.
Aila walked away rudely.
She walked to a different table and sat down, staring at her lunchbox.
Damian joined her on the table.
"Aila" He called out jovially.
"Stop talking to me. Momma, told me not to speak with strangers" She said sticking her lower lips out cutely.
Damian smiled staring at her cute angry face.
He swiftly thought of Nalda doing that as well in the past.
"Well, Aila, I'm not a stranger! I'm just a teacher here" Damian lied.
Aila looked up at him. She stared at him for some minutes and she smiled then looked away again.
"You just smiled, do you mind telling me why?"
"You're good looking just like Aaron" she smiled.
Damian chuckled.
"And who's Aaron? Your crush?" He asked.
Aila looked at him and laughed.
"Why are adults so casual about having a boyfriend? Momma also thinks I might have a boyfriend. Well, Aaron's my twin brother" Aila whispered.
Damian opened his eyes in surprise.
"Oh you've got a twin?"
"Aila, hurry up with your lunch. We're leaving for the pack house soon" The teacher reminded.
Aila nodded and opened her lunchbox.
"So tell me, Aila, why didn't you want to share your lunch with your friend?" Damian asked softly.
"Cos momma made it for me alone. This is my first trip lunchbox. I didn't feel like sharing it with her today. She should understand because she's my friend right? But she tried forcing me to share it with her" Aila said and started eating.
"That was bad of her. She should've understood you" Damian sided and Aila gave him a high-five, grinning brightly to him.
Damian caressed her hair as she ate.
He felt like he's known her for ages. He loved everything about her.
Aila got done with her lunch and she ran to her teacher as they got into their bus she waved Damian goodbye.
"Dre, let's head back to pack house! I just got a new friend" Damian said with a smile.
"I'm sorry, Damian but we've got a bigger problem. The cliff in the woods where Nalda fell in just collapsed! And the guards couldn't find anything down there not even a single cacas" Dre Informed.
Damian ran back to his car.
This just confirmed my suspicions. Nalda is still alive! He said in his head anxiously.
