Chapter 6
At Black Estates
9:30 a.m.
Evelyn's P.O.V.
I entered the office which was filled with the ringing sounds of telephones and chitter-chatter of men and women. My eyes wandered around the large boisterous hallway. I felt myself like a lost kid as I kept walking inside this colossal building.
All of a sudden, a click-clack sound of heels caught my attention. I looked up only to see a beautiful girl with shiny brown locks approaching me.
"You're Evelyn, right?"
I nodded.
"I am Rose. I am the chief manager of accounts department which means I am your head."
'Accounts department but I am a management student?'
She extended her hands for a handshake. I accepted it nervously.
"Nice to meet you Ms. Rose. But I am a ma-"
I stopped myself as something clicked my mind.
"At the office you're gonna be an average employee in everyone's eyes but secretly you'll working as a project manager for my company"
"Is there any problem?" Rose looked at me suspiciously. I shook my head and put a fake smile.
"N-no pleasure to meet you Ms. Rose."
"Yeah, nice to meet you too. Now come with me." She started walking away. I followed her behind.
'But I am a management student how am I gonna work in accounts department?'
I was feeling myself so forlorn and vulnerable. Neither I can't escape nor I can't tell anyone. Neither I can't die nor-
Suddenly a pathetic and depressed thought crossed my mind.
'Should I kill myself?'
I know I was being such a weak and miserable person for pondering over such a disgusted idea but right now it seems to be my only remedy to end this pain.
"We're here."
Suddenly her voice pulled me out of my trance. Rose turned back and looked at me.
"You're gonna work here."
She showed me my workspace. I simply nodded. But I found that a man and a woman were busy doing their job heedless to their surroundings. Rose noticed it. She immediately cleared her throat and spoke gently, "Guys meet Ms. Evelyn. From now on she's gonna work with you."
The people who were busy doing their work immediately got up from their seats and started greeting me. A tall guy with a cute smile quickly approached me.
"Hello I am Ian Swift." He greeted me respectfully. I greeted him back. Then a girl shook hands with me.
"I am Lily James. Nice to meet you Ms. Evelyn."
"Nice to meet you too." I greeted her back.
"Okay now you two explain her tasks and Evelyn, you also co-operate with them." Rose spoke in a professional tone. I nodded and bowed to her. She smiled and then left.
"So, newbie let's start."
Ian chuckled. I also smiled and then they both started explaining me my work. But to my surprise I was easily able to understand it.
Although I was a management student but Dad had taught me some account formulas while we used to have free time.
While I was filling up a balance sheet suddenly a memory flashed across my mind...
~Flashback
"Urgg! Why are you teaching me to fill this balance sheet? It's literally pissing me off."
I whined while banging my head on the table in frustration.
"Evie, you should know all this. What if something urgent happens in our company? Like suppose if our company passes a bill to an enterprise and it goes wrong and that enterprise immediately claims us for our fault. In that case you being the manager should be able to check the calculations of the data and correct them not wait for someone from the account department to verify it?", Dad chided me.
"But Dad, I am an M.B.A. student not a commerce one. It's too hard."
He chuckled at my pouted face and patted my head gently.
"Evie you're a child prodigy. You are an amazing learner as you have a sharp brain. You're so special. I want you to become the CEO of our company that's why I want you to excel in every department. Also, you shouldn't restrict yourself just to business but must expand and explore your mind in every field if you want to become a successful person."
I became astounded with his words.
"You're right Dad. I am blessed to be your daughter."
We both smiled and hugged each other.
End of flashback~
My eyes welled up recalling that beautiful memory.
I used to be so lively and enjoy every second of my life. The hectic schedule of my busy days, working for countless hours in the office all day long and my sleepless nights which I used to spend completing my assignments and projects as I was still completing my post-graduation. I don't use to have time for myself even. But still I was so happy.
Me and my dad used to dream of making our company the most lucrative and fortunate company of America. I worked day and night to increase the productivity and sales, meeting with clients for signing various deals of new projects but everything got over within a snap of a finger just by my small mistake
Mistake of falling in love....
Slowly tears started falling from my eyes as I remembered the best days of life which got ruined just by the person whom I trusted with all my heart.
"Evelyn, are you ok?" Lily asked me worriedly. I got startled by her voice and quickly composed myself and wiped off my tears.
"Yeah, I am just happy."
She then placed a hand on my shoulder softly.
"It's okay. You have just reached the first step of success you have a long way to go."
I sighed at her reply.
"Yeah, but some people are so unlucky. They dream of something else but end up with something else. They're never able to achieve what they once dreamed of."
I sadly chuckled at my poor condition while holding my tears. Lily looked at me. Tears kept escaping my eyes. She then cupped my face making me look at her and spoke softly.
"Evelyn, God gave you this life because you're strong enough to live it. Don't give up. All of your hard work will pay you off one day, stick with what you're doing no matter how hard it gets. And one day you'll definitely make it. Have hope Evelyn."
I became flabbergasted as soon as those words left her mouth. I don't even know myself but suddenly I felt a wave of excitement and happiness prevailing inside my soul. I immediately hugged her. She got startled a little but hugged me back.
"Thank you so much Lily."
She laughed and stroked my hair gently.
"Your welcome Evelyn."
"And one day you'll be standing in the hall of fame."
All of a sudden, Ian started singing loudly.
"And the world's gonna know your name." Lily also joined him.
"'Cause you burn with the brightest flame."
All three of us," And you'll be on the walls of the hall of fame."
We all started chortling. After so many days I found myself alive and back.
Just their mere simple words sparkle up a new ray of hope in my dark life.
End of Evelyn's P.O.V.

Inside CEO office
Dylan's P.O.V.
"Urggg! I CAN'T FOCUS!"
I slammed my fist on the table harshly in frustration. My mind wasn't able to focus since morning.
Whenever I tried to concentrate, her sad and helpless face flashes in my mind. I closed my ears angrily as her painful wails keep echoing in my ears. I closed my eyes in vexation.
"You'll regret this one day, Dylan Black"
"URGG!!!"
I grabbed the vase kept on the table and threw it on the wall angrily. Its broken pieces got scattered all over the floor.
"DYLAN!"
Suddenly Sophia barged inside my cabin. She was my personal secretary. She looked at the mess I had created. Sophia then heaved a deep sigh and came closer to me.
"Dylan, you ok?" She asked me while cupping my face. I immediately jerked her hands away and pushed her back.
"LEAVE ME ALONE! GET OUT!" I screamed at her furiously.
But in an instant, she grabbed my face and started kissing me hungrily. I became shocked but slowly kissed her back. She then looked at me and spoke in a seductive voice.
"Daddy, wanna get rid of your stress?"
She started tracing her manicured nails on my chest. I smirked and immediately tore her dress. I slammed her on the table and started unzipping my pants.
"I'm gonna release my entire frustration on you babe." I spoke while glaring her naked body.
"With pleasure, I'm all yours now Daddy." Sophia whined as she was completely turned on. Without wasting any time, I grabbed her hips and slammed in her.
End of Dylan's P.O.V.

Evelyn's P.O.V.
"Evelyn, I can drop you." Ian spoke to me while we were heading outside the building.
"No thanks. I'll go home by bus."
I spoke nervously as I don't want anyone to know about my whereabouts.
"But why take bus when we can easily drop you home by our car?" Lily whined as she ran quickly to match our steps.
"It's fine. You don't need to bother." I assured them with a smiling face. Ian nodded.
"Okay then but if you need some help, remember we are always there for you."
"Yeah, we're friends now." Lily chirped while clutching my shoulders from the back. I chuckled and pulled her in a hug.
"Thank you so much."
"Hey! I want one too."
Ian whined like a child. I laughed and was about to hug him when...
"What's going on here?"
