Chapter 8

Sassy woke up a few hours later, she still looked battered and her tummy was bruised. She took off her clothes and went into the bathroom. She stared at herself in the mirror, examining her bruised and discolored tummy.

"Thank you, Murphy." She muttered.

She turned on the shower, and let the coolness of the water seep into her skin.

After taking her bath, she dried herself up and examined her tummy again. But she noticed it wasn't healing yet.

"Sage, what's wrong?" She asked.

As she was a werewolf, her bruises and injuries were supposed to heal up quickly, but this wasn't healing.

"Sage?" She called again, but there was no response.

Sage was still weak and Sassy could barely feel her presence.

Sassy sighed and applied an ointment on her bruise, then she went to bed.

The next morning, Sassy went to look for the matron to tell her about what was going on, as she couldn't comprehend it at all.

The moment the matron saw Sassy, she knew something was off. Sassy looked pale, and she looked like she was in pain.

"Sassy, what's wrong?" She asked.

"Matron..I..I.." Sassy stammered.

"You what? What is going on with you? Are you sick? Why do you look so sick and weak?" The matron asked and moved closer to her.

Sassy raised her shirt, and the matron glanced at her tummy.

She moved back and covered her mouth in shock.

"W..wh..what happened?" She asked.

Sassy sighed and let go of her shirt.

"What happened to you?" The matron probed.

"I found my mate," Sassy announced.

The matron didn't know if she should be happy or not, because Sassy didn't look too excited about it. But why was her tummy discolored?

"Okay....so..." The matron was saying, then realization struck her.

"Your mate is mating with another she-wolf." She said and covered her face in disappointment.

"As expected. But why am I the one experiencing this pain?"

"Your mate isn't supposed to mate with any other wolf as long as he has found you. He is meant to be loyal to you for the rest of his life. If he isn't loyal to you, I'm afraid you'll continue having those bruises." The matron explained and Sassy clenched her fists.

"That bastard, Murphy." She muttered.

"Murphy? Alpha Murphy? Is he your mate?" The matron asked wide-eyed.

"Yes, he is. I wonder why the Moon Goddess brought us together. We can never be together. I just found out he was my mate yesterday, and he is already causing me pain. I can't live like this, matron." Sassy fumed.

The matron could feel the pain emanating from Sassy's words.

"You can reject him, you know..."

"Of course, I would. It's just so sad that he is my mate. I had plans, I'm sick of living like this. But I'd rather live like this than have him as my mate." Sassy said and walked out.

Alpha Murphy was in his office, thinking about Sassy, when the Beta, Hogan, walked in.

Hogan is the son of the previous beta, Leo. He was more or less Murphy's friend and special adviser.

"I came as soon as I got your message." Beta Hogan said.

"Sassy is my mate." Alpha Murphy said, without hesitation.

Beta Hogan stared blankly.

"Uh...."

"I only found out yesterday." Alpha Murphy added.

"What do you intend to do? You're not gonna reject her, are you?" Beta Hogan asked and sat down on the empty chair.

Alpha Murphy smirked.

"Well, I was going to reject her, but after some careful thoughts, I changed my mind."

"Okay?"

"I think she's hot. She looks so much better than she used to. I don't mind having a taste of her." He said and licked his lips.

"Well, whatever you say." Beta Hogan said and shrugged.

"But she won't be my Luna. She's an embarrassment."

Beta Hogan raised a brow.

"Is this because of Megan?" He asked.

"I can't let go of our relationship, Hogan. She already made me promise to make her my Luna. I don't love her, but I rather make her my Luna than make that Blondie my Luna." Alpha Murphy said.

"So, you would rather make Sassy a mistress?"

"Of course. No one would even want her, she should consider herself lucky." Alpha Murphy said, with a wicked grin on his face.

"And what if she doesn't want to be a mistress?" Beta Hogan asked.

"Of course, she will. I'm sure of that." Alpha Murphy said with a confident look and he relaxed his back.

Beta Hogan looked unsure, but he didn't speak any further.

Sassy was moody the whole day at work, it even affected her work rate.

"Sassy, what is wrong with you?" Joy, Delight's elder sister who was the owner of the shop asked after Sassy gave a customer the wrong order the fourth time that day.

"I'm sorry, ma'am." Sassy apologized.

"You keep saying sorry. This is the fourth time now, is it until you chase all my customers that you'd realize you've been fooling around?" Joy asked angrily.

"Sis, please. She never behaves like this, she must be going through some shit. Don't be so mad." Delight tried to reason with her sister.

"Now, you shut up," Joy said and turned to Sassy again.

"This isn't your father's house, Sassy. You need to focus and give customers their exact orders. Whether you're going through something or not, the customers do not care. The only reason why I haven't sent you away is because you always behave well. But take this as a warning, because there would be no next time." She said and walked away.

Sassy just stared at her, she felt a lump in her throat as she tried to hold back tears.

She tried to hold it in, as she didn't want to break down in front of everyone.

But, as soon as she got back to the orphanage, she crumpled on the floor and let it all out.
