Chapter 5
"No, I'm not going to school," my voice was muffled by Winter's pillow.
"Yes, we are going to school. Now get up before we are late." She sounded like a mother talking to a six-year-old emphasizing every word.
My phone rang as I was about to wake up because clearly, Winter was not taking no for an answer. Winter jumped and landed on top of my head with her buttocks and stretched to get my phone next to the pillow.
Okay, which part of mine does she not understand?
"Hey, Chris." Winter cheerfully greeted my dad.
I opened my left eye to see her smiling down at me as I groaned in pain. Why is she smiling while I'm frowning? I'm sure my head hurts now because of her big pounds. People think we are crazy when we diet.
"Yeah? Oh, are you here? Outside my house? Oh, I'm coming." She smiled and dropped the phone in my face.
"Bitch! Ah," I screamed after her. Her laughter booms through the whole house while my eyes are practically in pain from the cell phone.
I sprinted from the bed to the bathroom snatching a towel and toothbrush. I entered the bathroom and headed for the sink to wash my face and then my teeth. I heard them talking while coming upstairs. They were pretty slow if you ask me. I quickly closed the bathroom door and jumped into the shower.
"Well, tell her I will be preparing breakfast downstairs when she's ready." I heard Winter faintly say.
I heard the door opening as I was getting out of the shower. I draped a towel over my body and then left the bathroom.
"Hey Daddy," I flashed my grin at him.
"Hey, sweetheart." He kissed me on the forehead. His lips lingered there for a few seconds as if he couldn’t stop himself.
OK, maybe that was cliché and dramatic, but his soft lips did linger there for a second What? Nothing. It’s probably my imagination.
"Hey, I brought you some clothes," he said handing me some clothes.
"Ok, thanks."
"You said you would sleep at Autumn's house. Is this Autumn's house?" He questioned with his sass.
I just stared at him. All my memories are coming back. I swallowed a lump as I realized that there was no more us.
Dad snapped me out of my daze. "Hey, you zoned out a little there. Are you alright?"
I swallowed again followed by a nod. "I'm okay." I went to the bathroom and got dressed.
I wore Winter’s black nude heels and snatched my black Nike jersey draping it over my head as I shivered to feel slightly cold, but it was hot outside.
"Why are you shivering?" Dad asked as concern showed in his handsome features.
"I don't know I'm feeling cold," I said moving my hands up and down on my arms to add warmth.
"Shouldn't you stay home and sleep?" Dad asked placing his large hands on my arms.
"No Dad I'm sure it’s just a minor problem in my body system."
"Okay let’s go."
I took my schoolbag, my cellphone and earphones, plugging my earphones into blasting Chris brown with the volume up. I took an apple and ran out to the car knowing Winter is gonna scold me for not eating breakfast. I quickly got in the passenger side and Dad got in after me reversing the car out of the driveway.
"Hey, buckle up."
I buckled up and drowned myself in music, Winter will probably follow. Within a few minutes, we arrived at school.
"Have a great day honey."
"You too Dad, I love you." I kissed his strong, sharp jawline. I touched it slightly getting heat from touching it. "I never noticed you had a straight jawline," I commented while smirking. I knew he had a clever comeback.
"Ouch after so many years of us living together, you never noticed my marvellous jawline?"
"You are also arrogant." I turned around and walked to class.
"Hey, April wait up!"
I pinched the bridge of my nose in frustration. "Hurry up," I grumbled under my breath knowing it was Winter who is gonna make me late for class.
"Well, someone is p.m.sing."
I turned around to give Winter of my mind only to see Autumn.
"What is she doing here?" Seethed Winter like she is in pain as she came from the direction of the school parking lot.
"Well, Dearest Wi-"
Winter interrupted her. "I don't wanna ever hear my name in your mouth bitch! I always knew you were a two-faced little bitch." Then she clicked her tongue.
Winter grabbed my wrist, but I managed to see Autumn's emotions. I definitely saw pain.
"You go, girl! That was fire!" I cheered on standing in front of her.
"Yeah," she smiled a little then turned into a grin.
"Damn! I never knew you had that in you" As I was walking backwards, I stumbled and landed on a rocky chest.
"Careful there, miss," said a very soft and raspy voice. This person was wearing a black hoodie so I couldn't see their faces as they went past us quickly.
"Weirdo." We laughed it off as we walked to class.
"April, what is older between an egg and a chicken?"
"Egg."
"No, you idiot," exclaimed Mr. T, one annoying motherfucker.
I hated him from all the teachers in school. I hate his guts. He acted like he was clever, but he is dumb.
"Whatever do I look like a farmer to you?" Then I clicked my tongue.
"April, calm your tits down."
I cleared my face of any emotions. I didn't wanna seem weak by being shocked at his comment as the class hollered "Burrrn". "The only way you know tits is from your mother."
The class burst out laughing.
"So, you better lower your ragged ass off that dirty horse your ragged ass is on," I said pointing my manicured nails at him.
"Oh? And you know the ragged ass from yourself?" He commented sassily thinking he got it all.
There was always a rumour that he was gay. Let me use that to my advantage. "No, one of your ex-boyfriends told me your ass was ragged.”
Well, that shut him up.
I felt someone kick my leg under the desk. I hardly felt the blow. I turned to look to see who was kicking me so I could give them a piece of my mind.
"Grey-eyed dude!" I exclaimed, feeling happy to see him.
"I'm glad you are happy to see me, but they are staring at us."
I looked at my classmates. "Turn your ugly faces around before I have a nightmare about Halloween because of your faces," I snapped.
I turned around and smiled at him.
"Why did you snap at the teacher like that?" He asked.
My smile dropped. I clenched my jaw and also bit my lip to hold myself from snapping. A shiver went down my spine. I shivered uncontrollably.
"Are you cold?" he asked, worried.
I scoffed "No, I'm hot."
"I take it you hate stupid questions?" He said with a smirk, and I could've sworn I saw his eyes sparkle, but I don't trust my eyes.
"I hate it when people read me," I grumbled under my breath trying to calm myself down. I was seething with anger.
"Hey, calm down, April. Your veins are practically popping out of your neck."
I snapped my eyes at him.
"Well shit!" he muttered.
I narrowed my eyes at him, more to pressure him to talk.
"Dave Storm," he said.
I concluded that it was his name and surname. I couldn't ask him why he told me his name because I don't remember opening my mouth. The bell for school to out rang and my body was practically on ice. My teeth are shattering and my hands and body are cold. Heck! I was cold all over.
"Hey, you seem pale, okay maybe very pale." Winter felt my forehead then she jumped back. "Jeez! You are zero degrees."
That's when I lost my sight. I felt like I'm going mad. First, I saw Dad driving into the school parking lot.
The scene became blurry as I saw some kids bullying a thin kid. It was like I had some kind of travelling eye, an invisible one. My hearing was sharper. I heard gears outside the school which was far away. I felt myself hit the ground.
